Purchased As Used
I choose this car for the excellent warranty. Purchased it USED August 2009. I have not had any problems, I think when it hits Hundred thousand mile mark, I probably will start having problems. I have seen the 2011 model and I think I may trade it in. Of course I will wait until 2012 so that I get a great discount. Overall the car is great....read morehide

The cluster with radio/CD/GPS locked up and was reprogrammed within the first few months (Dec08). It locked up in Nov09 and was replaced with a refurb that has an intermittent but very loud buzzing sound that cannot be turned off when the car is running. The dealer tech at Fitzgerald Auto witnessed the problem immediately after installing the refurb but dealer doesn't want to make good on another replacement. The GPS software will take you down a state road parallel to I-70 in MD and is often baffled in and around DC....read morehide

We have almost 14K miles on the car and no problems. The steering is a little soft and not as responsive as I would like. The V6 motor has plenty of pep and the brakes work well. The fit and finish inside and out is what you would expect from higher priced cars. The low level entry trunk makes loading easy. The door remote needs to be reworked so that it is not as easy to accidentally unlock the trunk (this has a been a real pain). We live in the country and night driving is easy with the fantastic headlights that the Sonata has. I'm 6 foot 4 inches tall and the Sonata has enough leg and head room to be reasonably comfortable and still have room for someone to sit behind the drivers seat....read morehide

When I started shopping around for a new car I found myself looking around the all the reviews I could find. After reading reviews by all the "experts" and owners I found myself thinking Hyundai for the first time ever. As I progressed through the process of test driving and evaluating more and more cars the Hyundai started looking better and better.
The base price of the car was below many of the other cars I was looking at and the car came packed with more standard features that would cost hundreds of dollars with any other manufacture. All-in-all there was no better value out there.
The passenger area is HUGH. Headroom, legroom and shoulder room are excellent. It will handle four full sized adults very comfortably in all areas. This car has what we call a Costco trunk meaning that there plenty of room for any shopping trip. Then with the fold down seats you can even make a run the Home Depot and haul almost any home project supplies you need.
Hyundai has my attention and my vote. They have come a long way in improving their entire line of vehicles.
This car looks good, feels good and is fun to drive....read morehide

Bought new and got very good treatment from dealer vs Ford (Fusion) whom had a take or leave it attitude...So I left it...Car got 37mpg while driving 65mph on extended highway trip.....Higher than rated....Very nice interior, would have liked choice on a darker cloth to not show dirt down as car gets older no real big deal...Compared this car to several similar before buying as Sonata was best overall value...Shiftronic feature is fun to use but probably not necessary...1st 4 cyl owned on many years no problems feeling under powered......Nice Job Hyundai...read morehide

This is my third Hyundai, and favorite to date. First was an 01 Elantra which lost a battle to a deer. Second was an 03 Santa Fe which I sold to my daughter when I bought the 09 Sonata. Consumer Reports review of the 09 Sonata was spot-on, but I think it's a great car despite the "clunk" occasionally. I thought I needed a V-6, but this car, with the five-speed automatic does the trick. No problems in the mountains and cruises at 75 all day, getting 35 MPG in the process. I have NO complaints....read morehide

Have bought 22 vehicles since 1965, mostly GM's, chevy, olds, buick
pontiac, GMC trucks, 1 toyota, 2 mazdas, 1 isuzu, 1 dodge,1 ford,
1 Desoto w/hemi . (no not a used car dealer) personal vehicles. Mostly not base models, upper class versions. Have had very little
problems with any of them except 2 that were totaled (not my fault).
From 2.0L i4 to 455 cu in v-8's, including 3.8L SFI v6 and 4.3L v6.
Over 60 years old and had to go thru all those vehicles to finally get
the one I "really" like. If you are in the market for a new midsize
family sedan that is compared to cars like Accord, Camry, Altima,
Fushion, Malibu, Mazda6, etc in the price range of the Sonata se v6,
go to Google or Yahoo or whatever you us to search internet and
type in search, " 2009 Hyundai Sonata se v6 comparison review." Look around to see what Motor Trend, Car and Driver, JDPower and
others have to say. Compare apples to apples. Size, standard equipment, Warranty, Quality, overall value. I did a lot of homework
and looking and test driving before buying. After taking everything
into consideration our choice was pretty clear. We wheeled and
dealed between to different dealers in our area, same model car same equipment, different color. MSRP $25,000. plus or minus.
Drove new car off from dealer with best deal, Under $18,000. that was
including tax, title, license and 3 add on options and extended
warranty. Give it a look it won't cost anything extra to check it out,
you may be surprised, I surely was, the evidence is in my garage.
After several months and a little over 8,000 miles my wife and I are
very happy it is in our garage. Don't take my opinion, go and make
your own. You may also be happy to put it in your garage. Didn't
need a car salesman the car itself did that! As a X Toyota and Mazda owner to the present Toyota and Mazda owners don,t be
surprised at what passes you up. O by the way I did not trade in
anything for the Sonata, I still have the Mazda 626 v6 (GOOD CAR)
but not a 2009 Sonata se v6. Happy car shopping....read morehide

Have been quite pleased overall with this car. Build quality is excellent. I was at the Mercedes dealer getting my other car serviced and quality was equal or better than the new E Class. This car equals my 2007 Camry in every way.I had a chance to use Hyundais roadside assistance due to a flat tire. Repair person was there in 30min and Hyundai followed up to see if all was well.Folks talk about re-sale, but if you finance and pay for several years the extra interest you pay on a Honda or Toyota, will be a wash. Considered a Fusion, but couldnt resist 4000 dollars from Hyundai. Drive the car, if you dont like it, buy something else, but you will see the quality put into this car....read morehide

I wheeled and dealed on a 2009 instead of trying on a 2010, my bottom line out the door for a limited V6 was $19,456. I ended up having to pick between blue-tooth or GPS and I chose the blue-tooth. I had test driven several cars and kept coming back to this I could find anything else that had all the pluses, some cars were better in one area but would fall flat in to or three others. When it came time to buy they added the extra five years to make it 10 bumper to bumper. No car is perfect but for under $25,000 this one would be the closest in my eyes....read morehide

Have had my 09 since Sept., couldn't be happier. Put about 9k on it already w/o any issues. This car rides like silk and for it's size, sips gas gracefully. Travel the interstates in the N.E. in the high 70's and still avg. 30+ mpg...easy. Trunk space? You can hear an echo in it! Little 4 cylinder? Small maybe, but has no problem cruisin or getting on the highway. Sweet sound system in this LE version, and we were so happy picking that model. All leather, sliding moon roof, heated seats w/ separate controls for environmentals. The trim is well put together, wood accents that rival much more expensive cars. Plenty of room for 4 and a great car to look at.
This folks, is an automobile....read morehide
