I bought a new 2007 Commander 4x4 with the Mercedes 3.0 lt turbo diesel and the gas mileage around town is on average 20 mpg. Even better on the interstate. I bought the Jeep to haul a trailer and it does that with little effort. I looked at several makes, but purchased the Jeep as it was by far the best value for money. Most of the features in the Jeep were extras in the Toyota. My wife drives it most of the week and she loves the comfort the Commander offers....read morehide

Just got the test drive on the new Jeep from my uncle. Felt very comfortable, and solid. It's very good feeling to ride on, and safe. However, the MPG was terrible. I don't know how did some people get 20 MPG in the city. My own car--Mitsubishi Outlander just got 21 MPG in the city (3500 lbs weight, 4 cyc., and CVT transmission). The Jeep commander weight around 4500 lbs and it still can make 20 MPG with V6, and 4500 lb weight..!! That's maybe just a joking. If it's that good, then it should beat down Toyota already....read morehide

I searched all over for the best buy for my money. I really feel like I got one here. I love my Commander Limited. It has every feature you could ask for plus more. I almost bought a Hummer for the same price...it didn't have nearly the amount of options. I will be keeping this one a long time...My wife even loves it and she hates shopping for cars!...read morehide

First Jeep and it's a blast. Works great for our family of 5. We live in the mountains with plenty of snow and off-road opportunities and it is a real confidence builder to have this vehicle available. We knew about the gas mileage and while not good it is no surprise. This Jeep has comfort, performance and looks good....read morehide

My wife and I purchased a new 2008 Comander Sport 4x2 w/V6. Our fuel mileage has exceeded the EPA ratings. We average 20 mpg in the city, and we about to go on our first vacation trip. We are anxious to see what our mpg will be over the highway. We have the fully loaded model and are very pleased with the ergonomics and comfort of the interior and all the options. The ride is a little stiff in the city, but on the open road it shows it's true ride. Very smooth and the curb to curb handling is very good. We like the vision out of the windshield, and my wife thought going in that the drivability would be much like a Expedition or Tahoe, but it truly handles more like a mid- small SUV. Access to the V6 under the hood is exspansive and thr rear liftgate gives easy access to the rear cargo area with gate open or with the liftgate glass. The rear end collision avoidance system is a great feature. Sirius Satellite Radio is wonderful and the sound system provides all the sound we need. The best thing we like though is the interior soundproofing. Road noise is very low and beats any Ford or GMC we previously owned. Jeep's reliability is was sold us, and the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is a big seller item. Overall, we enjoy the vehicle the best of any previous SUV that we have owned. Resale value is not a concern as we intend to own this one for quite a while. I give this one 4.5 stars out of 5. We feel that the value for the money is very good, and we reccomend the Commander as a good buy....read morehide

Not good to get if you live in the city. The gas milage is so bad that I have to go to the next gas station after I filled up from the previous one. The thing won't go if it doesn't have a HEMI. Its comfotrable and has so much room- pretty much the only thing going on for it.

This is a great jeep. I consider it the US version of a land rover sport, great Hemi power, smooth ride and great handeling. One of the best automotive options available is the auto high been and wipers. I travel to Maine a great deal to not have to worrry about flicking the high beams on in moose country is a great saftey feature. I also have the third row seats which fold into the floor and makes a great travel area for pets. It is a little tight for the back seaters but its compactness makes it more fun to drive. One of the best jeeps ever....read morehide
