I own a new BMW and an Infiniti and the Commander is my favorite vehicle. It's very comfortable and it's has a lot of power. This vehicle is great for a night on the town or a day at the lake, you can't go wrong with this SUV. I love it!

I've had my 2007 Commander Limited for a year.
It drives great. It handles great. It has a great interior. It makes good power from the 4.7 liter V8 Flex engine. Acceptable if not decent mileage and it runs on regular or E85.
It's been stone-axe reliable.
I traded in a Land Rover Discovery when I bought the Commander and the Jeep just destroys it in every single respect.
I'd buy another and highly recommend this vehicle to anyone. Given the incredible discounts Jeep is offering on this product, it is a no brainer GREAT deal. No, it's a STEAL!...read morehide

This is my wife's vehicle and we have had it for 3 years. The interior design is very comfortable. Love the triple sun roof. Suspension, traction, and braking are all good. We have the premium sound which rocks with the best of them. Ventilation system is awesome. Heated first row seats and reclining second row seats are designed like they came out of a luxury car. 3rd row seat is a little cramped but will fit an adult for a short ride. 3rd row climate control helps compensate.
Standard rear sensors, roll stability, front and side air bags were all considerations when we first bought the vehicle.
Resale is low but then again, what SUV today has good resale. Now is a great time to pick up a used Commander if you want one.
I'm writing this review in response to a US News report listing the Commander as the Worst Full Size SUV. Honestly I think they have it wrong. This is a great truck....read morehide

Great for getting you anywhere & goes really good in the snow! The remote start is fantastic for winter and the key operated hatch opener frees up hands when putting things in the back. (& you can also close from a distance from the key)

If Chrysler put as much thought into their other vehicles as they did into this Jeep, then I could not imagine them not being profitable. I've got a 2006 Jeep Commander Limited 5.7L V8 and love it. You don't buy a V8 and complain about mpg, actually it get darn good mpg considering its 4700+ lbs and build. I'm getting 15 city(2 less than my old 4 cylinder coupe) and 21hwy(rated 19).
Great styling, smooth ride over rough streets and train crossings, almost no wind intrusion at high speeds(or ever), so a comfortable, smooth, quiet ride. Road noise? I haven't noticed any yet. Visibiity(rear) takes a little getting used to, but far better than the Murano and FX by Nissan/Infiniti. Excellent sound package, solid ride, laminated glass a huge plus, sunroof, chrome package, towing capacity is nice to have available for my use, as is all the head, hip, shoulder and legroom inside. Everyone that has been inside this Jeep is a believer in Jeep-even the one who strongly dislike domestic makers. So far, it has been described as 'bulletproof, solid, the car, rock solid, great car', etc. Always wanted to own a Jeep and I can't be more satisfied with my purchase. Keep up the good work, Chrysler!...read morehide

I have owned only American Autos and have been satisfied with each of them, however this one is the best. Smooth ride, comfortable, nice.
Have a large extended family and have carried 7 comfortably. Plenty of power when needed. During 4dollar a gallon gas, I filled up on 1/2 tank so I did not have to mortgage my home for a fill up, but now that gas is cheap again, I am glad I bought it. I own a 2008 model. I am sure the 2009 is just as good....read morehide

When it comes to overall 4x4 functionality, a JEEP ranks up there with the best of them. During the harsh Cleveland winter, I have yet to come into contact with a road condition this vehicle will not perform in. If you are going to take the plunge, I recommend you pick up these features: 4x4, Limited, HEMI engine, and the Navigation system. These items significantly dress up the vehicle, while upgrading some of the weaker features other Commander owners have expressed disatisfaction with. If you are simply looking for a tough vehicle without the bells and whistles, stick with the Wrangler. Overall, I am very happy with the vehicle and have not come across any major issues. Despite being a bit of a gas hog, I would still recommend the upgraded engine. The MPG difference may be 1-2, but the performance of the base engine models will have you wishing you splurged for the HEMI. The 4wd Low option is a nice feature and really separates the Commander from its "All-Wheel" competitors. Sure Audi makes a great looking $70k SUV, but if I can't drop it into a low gear to get out of some snow/sand/mud, why have an SUV at all??...read morehide
