Fun car, few problems--until now--31000 miles--rotated tires and mechanic showed me the bad front tie rod ends. Still have warranty!
But need replacement at 31000 mi?

I bought my Compass Sport in August 09. I love it. It gets great gas mileage, handles the road well, even on wet pavements. I have all power, tinted windows, stereo with CD. Very roomy for a compact SUV.

Compass was leased in 2007 new. Has not been in shop except for oil change. Everything is original has over 40,000 and still rides great. We plan to keep it passed after lease ends

I have a 2007 Compass 4X4 Limited with the AutoStick option. This car is clearly the class of the crossovers available today. I have compared it to almost every other crossover and there is no comparison. Lower price, better gas mileage, and better built. The only car coming close is the Honda CRV. But the CRV is uncomfortable to sit in, doesn't get quite as good gas mileage, the engine isn't as responsive and is a lot louder. Some folks have complained the Compass has loud road noise. Compared to what? I tried most of the 4X4 crossovers and all of them are noisier than the Compass. None of them have as good a ride. If you compare it to a station wagon or a luxury vehicle, than it probably is louder and rougher - but this is a reasonably quite crossover and clearly the best in its class. I suggest that you drive the crossovers and make a careful comparison of cost, gas mileage, capacity, etc. and you will discover this is the best crossover on the market today....read morehide

We purchased our 2008 compass sport in October of 2008. We have had over six months now, so I will put my review up. There are far more pro than cons, in my opion to many to list. So I will focus on the Cons to help those who will consider buying one or not. There is some road noise, but I belive it also depends on the road surface which will affect any vehicle, try on a black top paved highway and concrete... WE are a family of five three girls age 14, 7, and 5 and they fit in the back seat comfortable for the 2 hour drive to visit the grand parents, but for long hauls, I will admit, I believe more could have be done to make the driver and front passenger seats more comfortable. It has an AC outlet in the center console, but only one DC outlet on the dash, so if you have a radar detector and a GPS, you can't use both, unless you buy a single to dual DC adapter. Finally it has PWR windows, and locks, but the front passenger door does not have a lock / unlock button. This is minor in my opion, but still noticable after you have the vehicle. Finally, I will say the vehicles where initiall being sold at to high a price 20K. You should be able to get into a 4X2 sport 2.4l engine with automatic tranmission and power windows, locks, and cruise control for around 16,500 not including tax. That is a very fair and good deal for this vehicle. As far ar reliability, I have had no issue yet, and no vehicle should have issues at 7 months, LOL. Time will tell. Hope this helps...read morehide

I test drove months ago and the road noise was horrible. I drove it right back to the dealership, I think this is the same vehicle as the Dodge Caliper which has horrible road noise also. I got the Chevy HHR instead. It has hardly any noise and you can actually see the insulation that dampens the wheel noise. My boss commented that it was so quite when she drove it and she owns a Toyota RAV which is a horrible little vehicle for the price. Nothing is electric except her windows, she gripes about the seats that you have to pump up and down. Now I have the 07 model and the 09 models have really been improved with more bang for your buck. I have the LT2 version that has everything except leather which I did not want. It has the larger engine and on the road I will get almost 33 mpg. Around town and doing errands 24 - 25 mpg...read morehide

This is a great car and I got a screaming good deal! Sporty and fun to drive with a smooth ride; lots of cargo room, and great fuel economy with the 4x2 and 5-speed stick. And well under $15,000 for a brand new car is hard to beat (I got the base model). My friend bought a Subaru Outback and paid over $26,000 and now she regrets it!...read morehide

To start of I'll say he only two things I like about this car. The rims and the car itself looks ok, other than that nothing. The supposed 24mpg city is actually 15mpg because New York is actually a city not some place out in the middle of nowhere with 3 stop lights. The car is very slow, very very very slow even with the tip-tronic. On the highway its like you have your windows open all the time since you can basically hear everything outside. If I turn up the music I can hear my side window rattling and the plastic door moving. That's another thing I hate, what's with all the plastic? The whole car is basically made of cheap plastic. The plastic lines on top of the car are staring to fall off you can actually see the glue under them. The electronic stability light keeps flashing on and of from time to time. Whoever designed this car or made it was seriously bored at the time. I am very picky about cars so I actually tell it as it is so please don't get offended compass owners but it is actually one of the cheapest worst cars ever....read morehide
