I bought this car over crv and rav 4 coz of the price and warranty. So far everything is fine. I have 14000 miles now. Very reliable car. I wish it has more power but we can live with it. I have a son so I dont need to drive fast.

We love it, but I sometimes wish we had purchased the 6 cyl. I rated down on comfort a bit because it desperately needs a center arm rest.
We would buy it again !

We bought our 2006 Kia Sportage when it was a year old in 2007 and have had no mechanic problems at all. It still runs like new, very smooth ride. I love this car and can't find anything wrong with it. That's a first! We've owned it for more then 2 years now and don't want to get rid of it. It's sharp looking, comfortable, and fun to drive. We have taken it on 14 hour road trips with no problems and it's especially fun to jet around town in. One of the reviews I read said it was uncomfortable for someone 6' tall, but my husband is 6' and he loves it. So I don't know about that. My husband and I both have lower back injuries and have had no problems with our backs since we got rid of our car and got the Sportage. You don't have to bend and twist to get into it. I love that! We will probably never own a car again after getting this. We're spoiled! Our daughter is 20 and 5'9", she loves to drive it. I'm 5'5" and it is perfect for me. As far as value, we paid as much for a new Neon as we did for the year old Sportage. I would never buy another Neon EVER! They aren't safe for you or your teens. I feel very safe in the Kia. I give it an A+....read morehide

This is my second Kia. I own a 2005 Optima (awesoooome car). Traded in a 89 Chevy 4x4, so any gas milage is an improvement. Gets about 23 on the highway. I have the loaded edition: all leather interior, sunroof, stereo system, running boards, 4x4 etc. It was the last one (on the showroom floor) so I got a great deal on it. Anyway...it handles great, has more than enough room, the 6 cylynder is a must with plenty of gusto.....I love it....read morehide

I rented this vehicle for a trip for work and what a mistake. If you are over 6' you will not like the ride adjustments. The seats do not adjust for a tall person and if you are a little large you will not like the room. The only plus is the teloscoping steering wheel, although that does not help much. Seems to have a fairly good cargo area. I personnally not purchase one of these as there are too many others on the market with better ride and handling, not to mention mileage....read morehide

I am very pleased with this new addition, the leather trim pakage and the sunroof makes this Suv one to look at. We have found it really easy to drive and very comfortable on the long trip. The V6 is a must

After turning in our trusty old Jeep Cherokee through the "cash for clunkers" program, we settled on a Sportage. The price point is what first led us to look at the Sportage, but the styling also caught our eye.
The build quality is excellent, with great fit and finish. There are some nice design cues that I like. The dual exhaust tips give the rear balance. They are not needed, especially for the 4 cylinder, but it sure looks nice. It is also amazing that you get aluminum alloy wheels, tinted windows, and power windows/door locks with a base model vehicle, something that was unheard of not too long ago. Though ours is the base model, the interior does not look cheap as one would expect. In fact, there is not much difference in appearance between the more expensive EX, other than some brushed aluminum touches, leather, and a navigation system. The stock stereo in the Sportage is amazing!! I have installed and listened to many a system in my years, many with amplifiers and subwoofers. This system rocks with great bass and highs. It has a 6 speaker system, with two satellite tweeters mounted high in the front doors, and 4 large round speakers (6 1/2's or larger) mounted at the bottom of each door. These speakers are not the cheap paper ones of old, as they are made of a durable plastic or composite. The radio also features 3 months of Sirius satellite radio, which I am going to keep because it has so many choices (I don't think I can go back to listening to regular radio now!).
As for the powertrain, it is smooth and quiet. The 2.0L is not bad, though it doesn't start to deliver power until the higher RPM range. I have driven a V6 and it is not much quicker off the line. But, for it's target price point, the engine does just fine. It is much better than the 4 cylinders that I have owned in the past. The transmission shifts smoothly and it also has an sportshift feature that allows you to manually choose gears by upshifting or downshifting. Steering seems nice and tight and easy to control.
The interior space is very adequate and has ample head, leg and shoulder room. I am a big guy, 6'1" and 250lbs, and I feel really comfortable, even coming from my daily driver, which is a Chevy Silverado. The rear is also comfortable with 2 adults. As for storage, the back has decent room, with a neat storage tray under the spare tire cover. It will haul most daily things just fine, and for those larger items the rear seats fold flat along with the front passenger seat to give more options to haul items.
Things I would change: Add a bit more power and better fuel mileage. Also, some exterior plastic door cladding for the base models would be nice for those people who can't seem to control their doors in a parking lot! A little more light in the rear storage area would be helpful at night.
Again, the Sportage is a great bang-for-buck vehicle. It has great styling and comfort and can be had for much less than the competitors. For people who are true Honda and Toyota fans, this will probably not sway them, but it is a great vehicle for people who are looking for a good, solid vehicle, while trying to keep the price as low as possible....read morehide

this is my 2nd SUV, I had a ford explorer, I love the look and the fuel consumption, the safety features are also impressive. Not a bad little compact SUV, I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who wants great looking and a comfortable, safe ride.

Nice lil suv. Everything about it is fine. Gets 3 less in gas mileage than my Honda Accord did. 19/23. So gas mileage is ok not the greatest.
Other than that nice suv.
