Had the car for 3 months now. Continue to have brake issues. Had a 2004 Subaru Forester XT (4 cyl turbo), no turbo lag at all. Keep having brake issues with poor dealer cooperation

I absoutly love my new Mazda! I bought my 2009 brand new in March of this year and haven't turned back since. I was driving a VW Beetle before I got this one and my biggest concern was that I wanted to be off the ground. I'm a single female in my early 20's and the CX-7 is perfect size, weather I'm by myself, have friends in tow, or bringing my neices and nephews out for the day, or having a fantastic shopping trip. I feel safe in the car, I feel like I'm high enough off the ground to where the daily summer rain shower here in New Orleans, LA isn't going to leave me stranded and flooded out. The priceing was also fair! I have the "Sport" with the 6 disk sound system and sunroof and that's pleanty of 'fancy' for me. The maintaince also is reasonably priced, I've had two oil changes so far with a tire rotation on my last and it doesn't "Break the bank", it's reasonable to upkeep. I love it!...read morehide

During day when shaded under tree canopy speedometer gauge is nearly useless in city driving, 0 to 40 MPH range.

I love this car. for people out there who complains about fuel economy, l don't understand . Try to compare it to other turbo engines out there. Do they get better fuel economy?. Natural aspirated 4 cylinder engines will not perform as good as the turbo. This vehicle is indeed fun to drive. Just replaced 2006 Toyota 4 runner ltd. edition with this....read morehide

I purchased a 2009 Grand Touring AWD.
Overall I like the CX-7. It?s reliable, powerful, stylish, perfect size, easy to handle. The only drawback is the fuel consumption. The 2009 version does not mandate premium gasoline. You can use regular if you want. They realized that with the 2008 gas prices fuel consumption was a major issue. The Sport and Touring versions are a little bit too firm in the seats and ride but the Grand Touring is much better. Grand Touring is more like a sedan, the suspension is very good, and you don?t hear the turbo lag like in the Sport and Touring version. I would suggest to everyone to monitor the tires wear. After 18k-19k miles your tires would be worn.
The cause might be from different factors:
-the original tires are made of soft components to make the CX-7 feel like a sedan;
-bad wheel alignment;
-or MAZDA engineers miscalculated the tire specifications for CX-7.
Replacing tires after 18k-19k miles should be unacceptable.
Also the interior materials including the floor could be of better quality. But the pricing is OK for what you get and I do not regret bying the CX-7....read morehide

I owned a 2001 mazda tribute, traded it in at 150K miles. Great vehicle. I do quite a bit back highway driving and have to jump on highways from a stop to 60-65mph all the time, passing people on two lane highways and needed something big enough to fit a few dogs in the back and pull a small trailer when I have to evacuate for hurricanes. The cx-7 was perfect. Feels like a car with the incredible responsiveness. Yes, it takes premium, but I get 23mpg consistently with my type of driving and if I didnt put the pedal down and get into serious boost I could do better(I swear I see that gauge move after doing so!). I have taken one highway trip and pure highway at 75mph I was getting 25mpg. I bought it in Nov of 08 and already have 16K miles on it. Its been wonderful, but the tires seem like they are wearing sorta fast(goodyears too!). The oil changes cant be done at the quick places because of the panel that has to be removed underneath, and it uses a cartridge style oil filter. Id only trust the dealer or myself to do it. So Im using extended life synthetic and doing it myself. Not too big of a deal. This vehicle is fun to drive, great ergonomics. Plan on replacing the stereo and speakers, the stock non bose was HORRIBLE. Great transmission, fun to manually shift occasionally. The stock headlight housing is a great place to put in some aftermarket HID headlights...excellent cutoff. I have no regrets buying it....read morehide

I am leasing a 2008, which, to my knowledge, is the same as the 2009, and still has the turbo lag; therefore, I'm putting in my 2-cents worth of review on this car.
It's fast, especially for a 4 cylinder that weighs almost four thousand pounds. It handles well, espcially considering it's weight. It gets a lot of look where I live, in a small town where most of the guys drive Dodge Ram trucks.
I gave it less than 5 stars for "Comfort" because it is a bit too firm in the seats and ride, but that's okay and expected in exchange for performance, usually.
I gave it less than 5 stars for "Performance" because of the turbo lag. It takes a moment for turbo to kick in, which should not happen; however, it has not been a problem.
I have it less than 5 stars for "Value" because, despite it's wonderfuness, I think it is a bit over priced....read morehide

Overall the car is wonderful. Even though it does not require premium fuel, if you want the best performance you should still use it. It will only cost you about $4-$5 more a month. My only complaint would be fuel mileage. I saw a user saying you'd be lucky to get 13-14 mpg, that is ridiculous. You'll get at least 16 but I get around 19-20 mpg. That being said 19-20 MPG is still pretty low for a 4 Cylinder. If they could improve the MPG on future models to around 22-23 then there would be no reason to ever own another car....read morehide

Runs well on regular gas. 85 octane in Colorado with no real impact. Only the 07 had to have premium gas.
Good online support group and many aftermarket stuff to detail out.
