Purchased As New
I have had the CX now for 6 months and really enjoy driving it....it is quite peppy for a small engine and handles nicely......Would consider having another one or stepping up to a CX-9......

A great looking car inside and out and it drives great. The two big problems with this car are a terrible turning radius and awful gas mileage. I wish I had bought the Honda CRV. I had a Miata for years but needed more room. They have mastered the look and deiver the ZOOM ZOOM, but have not figured out how to make an engine that doesn't guzzle gas. My friends Tahoe gets better gas mileage!...read morehide

Wife and I bought the sport version with the heated cloth seat option. So far we really like the CX-7. We think its by far the best looking crossover on the market. We do a good mix of highway and city driving and so far we have seen 20 mpg on average. CX-7 has a touch of turbo lag on the 1-2, and 2-3 gear shift, after that it really flys. Good acceleration for passing on the highway and good brakes for stoping too.
Interior is good, comfortable seats with good support, sporty ride and feel. Heated cloth seats are awesome. Interior noise is average. Stereo is not so great. If we had it to do again we would upgrade the stereo.
Sticker price for a base model (2009) with heated cloth seats is 25,000 here in Louisville, KY. I think for that price a few things could have been better. We bought the CX-7 for the huge rebate (7000) that was offered. That allowed us to get rid of our car that we were upsidedown on. Dont get me wrong, we liked the car, but the rebate made it a no-brainer fo us.
If your looking at the CX-7 and can get the large rebate I think its a great purchase. I would suggest the upgraded stereo/sunroof package. I think that made the price right around 27,000. If we had to pay sticker for the CX-7 I'm not so sure we would have bought it....read morehide

You will enjoy when you comprehend what you have for more than nice price per HP. Very good philosophy of market positioning - sport+suv, forget nonsense about rough off road cars driving in strictly urban spaces. You need 4wd only for safety and some urban obstacles...

I love this car, I had a touring I just traded in and I loved that one too. It rides like a sports car, but is not low to the ground. The Stereo is nice, it looks great, handles great, and the 244 horse power turbo charged engine makes it alot of fun. Only draw back is I get about 17 mpg.

I've had my CX-7 Grand Touring for a year now - I'm still in love. It rides/drives great and I couldn't be happier!
I'm unsure sure why another said that the ride is rough - it's a very smooth ride. Are you used a Cadillac or what???

I bought my CX-7 in March and it still feels and runs like new. I did install tinted film on the windows because of the harsh Texas sun during the summer months. I compared several vehicles in this category and the thing that made me choose the CX-7 was the value you get for the dollar. Sure, a few other SUV's are rated higher, but they don't offer the same convenience with the exception of maybe the Toyota RAV4. This mi-size SUV/Crossover feels like a car, drives like car and behaves like a car. You will appreciate all the leg room and spaciousness inside. The only thing I don't like is the basic sound system, it could be much better. Fuel economy is OK, but it needs improving (this is a turbo-charged engine after all). For all you do-it-yourselfers, you need to remove a whole cover assembly underneath the engine every time you change the oil & filter, so be aware!...read morehide

The crossover looks sleek and powerful, which it is. The ride is wonderful. I've driven it 9,000 miles in 5 months on the highways of Texas. AC is good, ride is quiet, confort is superior. BUT the blind spots caused by the airbag pillars on either either side of the windshield and the exterior mirrors have lead to far too many close calls. I also find it difficult to see anything on the right side of the vehicle because of headrest placement.
For me it is a geat looking auto that I have difficulty drivng because of the visabllity problems....read morehide

The dual automatic/manual transmission is the greatest. Great car design. Feels like driving a bigger SUV. I own a copper red one, and I love it!
