Just bought and so far, am VERY impressed with my 2009 CX-9. It replaced my 3 year old Volvo XC-90. Feels solid, drives great, looks great and I actually prefer it over the Volvo. Plenty of room inside to buy just about anything with the seats down. Rear seat heat and a/c is actually effective. Keyless everything is great. For the price, it can't be beat. I looked at much more expensive vehicles including Audi, Mercedes and Lexus and aside for the interior wood trim, softer leather and a little extra glitz in these high end crossovers, the Mazda is a winner and represents incredible value. It really has everything you'd ever want. I've owned many SUV's and a few crossovers and this one is a winner! I highly recommend it....but spend the few extra bucks and get the high-end touring model....its worth the extra $5,000....read morehide

I lease vehicles every 36 months. This crossover is right up there with European versions at twice the price. Ford owns Mazda and Volvo, and I see the best of all three automakers in this vehicle. I am considering purchasing my next one, and keeping it for the long haul.

Mazda did a great job with this crossover SUV. We test drove the Subaru Tribeca, Hyundai Veracruz, and the GMC Acadia. All were nice but did not compare to the sportiness or the agility of the CX-9. Prices were very comparable. I have read many users complain about the gas mileage but who buys an SUV for the fuel economy? My CX-9 gets about 14 mpg in the city but averages 25 to 28 mpg on the highway. Six months and 4,100 miles later and not one single problem. This SUV is very reliable!...read morehide

We absolutely love it! Great car! So much space inside and looks so awesome and stylish! We got Grand Touring with all the features, everything is very good designed and useful! Really do enjoy the ride - nice and smooth! Can't wish for more! Do the test drive to see for yourself! We compared to Toyota Highlander, Nissan Murano and there is no comparing!...read morehide

Stylish. Great Value. Comfort. Powerful Engine.
Abismal Fuel Economy. Somewhat Poor Display.
Some standard features missing in LatinAmerican Versions.

Mazda created the perfect crossover vehicle in the CX-9. Despite its weight (4650lbs.), this All-wheel drive, 3.7liter 272 HP crossover vehicle handles like a car (dare I say a sports car!). Luxury add-ons include Nav system, adjustable Xenon headlights, 20" rims, BOSE sound system, power lift-gate, easy to fold 2nd and 3rd row seats, leather seats, Bluetooth hands-free phone capability, 6-speed manumatic transmission - ALL provide excellent value for your money. Sales data indicates that most CX9 owners ( 50%) bought the Grand Touring version, which is the top model.
Chose between an Acura MDX and Volvo XC90 but at $40k, you get better value and more room in the third row (perfect for the kids) with similar appointments. Only disadvantage vs. the MDX is resale. But if you intend to keep your car for more than 3 years, this car should hold its value fine....read morehide

I traded in my Lexus 2006 GX 470 for a "loaded" Grand Touring CX-9 with all wheel drive. I'll compare the two vehicles. The CX-9 is better designed in many ways. Xenon lights, better dashboard, more intuitive navigation, much clearer blue tooth sound, much better stereo than the Mark Levenson Lexus, 87 Octane instead of 91, better mileage, nearly as fast, better turn radius, easier third row which doesn't "trap" passengers, far better stereo sound, better voice activated features, 20 inch wheels, keyless start and remote start, better placement of IPod connection (in the glove box between the front two seats rather than on the dash itself), hatchback that raises automatically, much quieter at high speeds, mirror that warns you of cars in your "blind spot".
The Lexus is much better off road--when I go to Baja, I'll miss that heavy duty Lexus suspension. If you go to offroad destinations on dry riverbeds rather than roads, you should get the Lexus GX or its twin, the four-runner. Otherwise get the Mazda. I'm much happier with the CX-9 and it costs 10K (12K?) less when fully loaded....read morehide

I can not say enough good things about this cross over. Size is just right. Interior space is very good. I have had 5 6footers out to lunch with no complaints. I regularly take my family of 4 all between 5'5" and 6' with plenty of leg room in the back.
I have had no issues in 9K miles.
I am getting between 17 and 20 MPG. I wish that I could be over 20 more since it is only a FWD and not AWD.
I would recommend this vehicle to anyone looking for a full size crossover with decent MPG....read morehide

I've had numerous problemss with my "top of the line" CX9 and have not had good response from Mazda in resolving the problems. The car also have major blind spots making it difficult to change lanes.

Overall we love our new Mazda CX9! We purchased a used 08 sport model for $21,000 and couldn't be happier. Everyone that see it thinks it is a lexus or some high dollar vehicle. The room is amazing. We definately won't hesitate to travel in this vehicle.
