I compared Civic Sentra, Corolla, Impressa, 318i, A4, and Mazda 3i. I bought the 2009 mazda 3i value with a 5 speed manual transmission for $14,900 & my old Dave Ramsey beater as a trade-in. The 3i value went way beyond anything else out there for the money. As I write this review in April 2009, dealers are starving to sell cars and the newly remodeled 2010 mazda3's are already in stock so salesmen are unloading 2009's cheap. The 3i value is totally pimped out with more cool bells and whistles than my 96 Millenia. It is a driver's car so its steering is precise and it gives you road feedback (what civic, corolla and oldsmobile drivers consider "harshness") A manual gearbox is the only way to go in this car. I have experienced 32 mpg even though I drive 70-75 mph on the highway. The car is assembled in Japan which is important to me because my millenia from Hofu has given me 167,000 trouble free miles.
