I always thought the little Mazda 3 5 door hatch was one of the best looking newer cars - but I was going to take the conservative route and get another Honda. I spent several weeks becoming annoyed that none of the local Honda dealers had any manual transmission civics or accord coupes available. So I went down the street to the local Mazda dealer. They were able to get me exactly what I wanted, a silver 2009 'sport' with the manual trans - that very day. That was about two months ago - and I don't think I have stopped smiling. The car is a blast to drive, handles wonderful (controlled but supple - reminds me alot of a friends BMW 330,) and has plenty of zip. You can put around town at 2500rpm, but when you put the spurs to it, the little 2.3 motor is hammer between 3000 and 5000 rpm. The MP3 jack inside the armrest is a fabulous idea and I use it often. It has more back seat room than my wife's Altima. The clutch is solid but progressive (much better feel than the Civic I traded in.) All those folks out there that really liked older Honda Accords will love this car. My only hesitation at this point is that I have not had the opportunity to do an oil change with the goofy 'cartridge' style oil filter - I hope it isn't that much more difficult than the standard spin on type. The icing on the cake - I paid about 6 grand less than I was going to on an accord coupe.
