I've had my ML now for 6 months and this vehicle is one of the finest on the road. Most will never use the capability of the ML, but know that if you need to take it off road, YOU CAN! Turn signal and cruise control too close together

I owned a first generation ML320 that I really liked. I did not know how bad is was until I drove the new 2009 model. The ride is so much better, acceleration much better, gas mileage much better, trim and interior much better. On the other side the old ML seemed to have more storage space in the hatch, but the new ML back seats finally fold flat affording more useable space. The back seat is roomy and leg room seems better on the new vehicle. The old ML320 engine was noisy while the new ML350 engine is smooth, almost V8 like. If you owned an older model ML, some things you will have to get used to is the placement of all interior controls have been repositioned from the old ML's locations. This can be tricky until you learn the placement. One particlular problem is the location of the cruise control. It is very close to the turn signal and you have no way to disable it on the dash or stalk. I almost hurled myself into oncoming traffic when I accidently activated the cruise control instead of hitting the turn signal. Also the steering is more sensitive, almost twitchy at high speed. At slow speeds, it steers much better than the older one. The seats on the new ML are a little firmer than the older one. May be the difference between the cheaper MBTEX vs the old real leather seats I had before. As for the design, I like the new grill, lights, and the standard wheel package looks great. This is an entirely new vehicle if you owned an older ML. Let's hope it holds up better than the first generation ML. My recommendation, buy this vehicle....read morehide

I love the ride of the vehicle and it is very quiet. I have two car seats in the back and there is enough room for an adult to sit in between, although tight. I wanted to get keyless-go and the dvd system since my car came pre wired for it but the price for these options are not worth it. The gas mileage is not great, but the overall build and quality of the car is very nice. I also like the fact AWD is standard....read morehide

From the moment I picked this vehicle up from the dealership it has been a joy to own. When you first step into the vehicle the number of buttons is a little over whelming. Fortunately the blue tooth phone system, nav, stereo, and TeleAid are nicely integrated and easy to use. By simply pressing a button on the steering wheel and speaking commands makes the system very user friendly. I prefer this nav system over a touch screen. What is simpler than speaking commands? The buttons around the nav system are there as a second way of programming the system if the driver is not comfortable with speaking commands. The vehicle feels good to drive and is very smooth. The vehicle has good acceleration and thought the 7spd trans shifted smoothly. I'm getting about 21 or so mpg which I didn't think was too bad. The vehicle is a great value....read morehide

navigation is not touchscreen and not user friendly

We bought the 2009 ML350 a month ago and we dint like the navigation system. It is very hard to use. same with the video audio system. putting so much money on a car and the navigation didnot even have the touchscreen.
We just bought it a month ago and the trunk door is not operational with the key.
Totally never buy this expensive car but no satisfaction at all.
We regret a lot now.

Pathetic fuel economy, 23 horsepower short of Cayenne GTS

Like almost every car on the road, this car has its ups and downs. Let's get the downs over with. The ML550 gets an EPA estimated 13 city, 18 highway for 2009. Now this is ok for a large SUV, but for a midsize SUV, environmentalists might turn their heads on the ML550. Not only that, but the ML550 gets 23 fewer horsepower than the Porsche Cayenne GTS, 382 and 405. Despite this power disadvantage, the Mercedes-Benz ML550 DOES have a pretty awesome 382bhp V8 engine, and I guess we've secretly jumped into the ups. Yes, not only is it powerful, but it is also better priced than the Cayenne GTS. Instead of paying $70,000 for a GTS, you pay about $56,000 for the ML550. I'd give up 23 horsepower for a $14,000 benefit, like most smart people would. Also, the ML550 is quite an upscale car. It comes standard with a navigation system, heated leather front seats, cruise control, premium sound system, 6-disc CD changer, and more. We were also impressed with the ML550's high ride quality. It delivered a rewarding ride AND rewarding engine sound no matter where we went, what roads we took. And last, with this 382bhp 5.5 liter V8 engine comes a fairly impressive 0 to 60mph time of 5.4 seconds. This is no Ferrari or Lamborghini run, but considering an SUV that isn't even an AMG, 5.4 seconds isn't at all a bad run, and will still allow for driver and passenger satisfaction. My rating for the 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML550 is a 93%. It's the one of the few Mercedes-Benz vehicles that REALLY impresses me, mostly because of the decent price....read morehide

I bought this car 2008 and i droven it for 55000 km and the only thing i have to say about it is OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.
IS 3 CAR IN ONE, HIGH PERFOMANCE, 4X4 AND LUXURY . YOU WILL NEVER EVER ARE ABLE TO BUY 3 OF THEM IN ONE CAR AND THAT IS THAT.

I have a ML-350 since 2003 till now. The biggest problem is almost every 10,000 miles you have to change the brake pads.

Looks luxury, more quiet and comfortable than X5

Price can go up alot if you want a real luxury car(meaning when adding lots of option)

Test drove the X5 and the M class. And i bought the M class at the end. Because the ride is more comfort and quieter when compareing to the X5.Although the X5 looks more stylish and sporty. But the engine for the X5 just make too much noise and you must get the V8 in order to avoid that. Wind noise for the X5 and M class is about the same, but X5 makes more road noise than the M class and it is also more stiffer than the M. Lastly, with about the same price, X5 will have more feature, but M class has the comfort and quieter cabin. So my final decision was the M, because a comfort ride for eeveryday driving is more important and the luxury exterior is just too attractive....read morehide
