Purchased used, at a very good price - absolutely great value... Realize that, when the time comes, repairs will be expensive - but, it is a Mercedes Benz - it's not supposed to be cheap. Quality comes at a cost, no matter what you buy or where you shop - so be it. That being said, I have had less problems and more fun, than with the Ford's of the past. This is my first Mercedes, but, doubt it will be may last. Had decide between the new Camaro, or the SLK - easy, no comparison!!! I bought the car used it's an 06 SLK 280 with Navigation, Heated Seats, Air Scarf, etc etc it's loaded up. I got it at Off Lease Only with 19k miles and let me tell you. I have owned Cobra's and Vette's and Rx-8 and I have to say this ride is sweet!!!! Yes the others have bigger Engines cheaper in price etc etc but come on the Warrantee is untill 50k miles or 7-2010 I couldnt go wrong. Storage is no problem it's a 2 seater I have an Explorer for hauling and an Acura RL for a sedan. This is my FUN car and it meats and excedes my expectations....read morehide

Frequent repairs. The entire car rattles all the time. Not reliable. I had to get rid of it.

This was just about the nicest looking car I have ever owned. It was also the most unreliable car I have owned to the point that I only drove it near my home in the case that it broke down. God knows that it broke down often. Frequently I kept the car in my garage and did not bother to take it to be repaired. The problems started just a few days after the car was purchased. It was mostly in the shop the first few months I owned the car. I was very happy when I got rid of it and took a huge financial loss. My experience with this car is from two years ago. Precisely polished and sophisticated as one expects of M-B

Overpriced for the performance delivered, electrics as unreliable as old brit roadsters.

Often ride with The Boss. Love to drive his SLK. When it's out of the shop. With all the computers able to boot. And all the computers able to sync-up on the in-car network.

So far, at the M-B dealer 10 months of the last 12.

Absurd.

He's mostly driving a Z-4 or MX-5, but the SLK makes a great story of angst and woe at the country club....read morehide

It didn't work, so Mercedes had to buy it back from me.

Got the car to drive on weekends with my girlfriends. They all have Corvettes and Porsches, and I wanted something different, that was designed specifically for a woman in mind. The car worked for one week, then broke down. Into the shop in Calabasas California. Over the six months I had the car, it was in the repair shop five. Finally, they took the car and gave me my money back. What was wrong? They wouldn't tell me, other than "there are so many electronics on the car, the technology has exceeded their ability to make it work." I loved driving the car while I had it, but would have liked to have had it to drive more than I did. Great looking convertible, sporty, comfortable and practical roadster. Good for all seasons thanks to it's hard top. A thrill to drive. Standard transmission more fun, wish the more powerful engines (350 and AMG 55) come with the standard transmission option as well. Great handling especially with the new direct steering. Never get bored of driving it. Great GPS system, but the volume should be separate from the stereo volume nob....read morehide

Quite expensive

Well, I love this car! Once you ride on it, you do NOT want to live the car ever again! But this car is not the least expensive car ever, in fact, it is somewhat expensive. But if the budget is not the issue, then I recommend this car. It is fun to drive, it is super comfortable and TOO high-tech!
