Purchased As Used
I want to start this review by saying that I never intended on even considering a Mini Cooper until I drove one, compared the excellent reliability ratings, and resale values. Now that I have, I am not looking back. I have never owned a Mini or any other BMW product before purchasing this one.
I love my Mini Cooper Clubman S (6 speed manual). It is so much fun to drive. I find myself always doing fast starts just to feel the torque as the turbo kicks in. I do a lot of driving around town (1000+ miles per week) and never get bored of driving. The extended Clubman really offers room for 4 normal sized people to sit comfortably. I have 2 small children and they love it too because they (2 & 4 years old) can actually climb into and out of it themselves vs the SUV where they need help. I get the "Daddy Daddy, Go faster" all the time from them.
The fun factor and super efficient mileage is the reason I bought it. Now that I've driven it a few thousand miles, I can't help but love the 40mph on the highway and 31 (even with all my hundreds of fast starts) in the city mileage. I think the mileage estimates are actually very conservative when you go to buy it but when you actually own it, your wallet can't stop smiling. The amazing thing is that even if you buy the John Cooper Works version (fastest one yet) it still manages to get the same efficient mileage ratings.
If you have a family of 4 and don't have kids in a stroller anymore and you are looking for a car with value and great resale value, I would highly suggest looking into getting a Mini Cooper Clubman S. You will not regret it. Just go drive one. If the power and go kart style handling doesn't put a smile on your face then I challenge you to go try any American made car, Toyota, Honda, or Nissan. Compare the prices, drivability, efficiency, and overall driving experience and I bet you will come right back to the Mini. The Mini is infectious somehow.
By the way there is an roadside assistance application for the iPhone that uses the phones built in GPS to tell help where you are located. Not that I needed to use it yet but it has a very easy way to contact help and they know exactly where you are.
