Much better handling than Civic. The steering is responsive enough. Decent acceleration( o-60 in approximate 8.5 second). Great road holding and very good brake . Front look very sporty but the rear trunk is purely sedan;they don't fit together. Should redesign this edgy rear in couple years. Everything else is perfect for me....read morehide

I bought this car brand new for a great price. I was also considering a Scion tC but the Scion dealership wouldn't negotiate on the sale price so I went with the Lancer ES. The car handles very well on the road and is smooth on highways. The stereo/cruise controls on the steering wheel are great. I didn't think how convenient they would be until I started using them. Now I can't imagine having a car without that feature. There's also Bluetooth controls for your cell phone on the steering wheel that I haven't had a chance to setup but it's a nice feature nonetheless. The CVT engine is OK but a little noisy. It has decent fuel economy. I average about 29 on the highway and 24 in city driving. The driver seat comfort is average. The back seats are very roomy for a car this size. Trunk space is great. The design of this car is vey appealing. I consider it the best looking car in its class (especially if you get it in BLACK). The front kind of resembles a shark. This car is one of the safest too. Seven airbags! The warranty is tops in its class too. Who else has a 5 year/60,000 bumber to bumber and 10 year/100,000 powertrain? I'm surprised to say...Mitsubishi!...read morehide

It's not the fastest car (152hp), but it handles extremely well. The car was built around the suspension (really). When you drive it you can feel it holding the road.
I'm glad it's not fast. It'd be very dangerous to drive. The suspension is so sporty that I find myself pushing it hard into turns. It's like the car naturally finds it's way through the turn.
On the highway it's smooth, almost peaceful to drive. It's not noisy then. Put the cruise control on and that's that, eighty, ninety, no problem.
The CVT trans isn't bad once you know how to use it. It's smooth and you have to press the gas smoothly. Keep pressing and it keeps reving until you let up, then it shifts. You can shift that way with an automatic. That's nice.
The styling reminds me of a hot 70's car, i.e. Jaguar. This car actually resembles a shark and looks angry. That's just crazy. And people look at it, no kidding. I get looks. I'm embarrassed a little. After all, I paid only 17k for this car.
This body style has the potential to become a serious brand. This car looks better than a BMW (don't like) and a Mercedes (tired brand). And no kidding, the drivers of these cars actually notice my car. It's elegant yet aggressive looking, how Jaguars used to look.
You will find no better car at this price. Best of all, because Mitsu doesn't advertise heavily in the U.S. it'll remain a low volume car. You won't see this car everywhere, like a Honda or Toyota....read morehide

Great to be in the Mitsubishi Lancer's class of engineering, safety and performance. It brings new life to the crowded auto world with its beautiful styling, excellent handling, great performance and money saver warranty! The warranty alone of 10 years/100,000 miles saves alot of money towards the car in the long run and plenty of exciting adventures in the trips without the maintenance headaches. I trust Mitsubishi's long experience in performance and durability and will be a long customer of theirs....read morehide

I've had this car for about two weeks now, and I absolutely love it. The dealer I purchased it from was an absolute joy to work with, and I walked away with their first 2009 Lancer ever sold! Nav system is awesome, although the maps are from 2006 which I think is ridiculous. The Hard drive audio system is a great idea, but only records from CDs. No way to copy mp3 files from a disc to the HD. DVDs are for video only. No way to have a DVD disc loaded with MP3s. Rockford stereo is great, but being a car stereo enthusiast, it leaves much to be desired. It also has a volume limiter to not blow the speakers at high volume. I really hate this feature, as it's actively adjusting volume all the time. This takes away from the sound that this stereo has the capability of outputting. If there is a quiet moment in a track and the volume is up, the next portion of music that you hear is extremely loud, and you can hear as it slowly adjusts the volume and levels to keep within speaker limits. Bluetooth phone system is awesome, although the voice recognition after training isn't any better than before the training. Still it's pretty good as long as everyone else in the car is quiet.
Engne power is pretty darn good. Manual mode is fun, but with the way the CVT operates, in many cases the automatic mode is just fine. And I personally prefer a manual transmission. In maual mode, the transmission acts exactly as a manual does. The transmission will never shift for you automatically except from higher to lower gears on your way to a stop. I love that you can stay in drive and use the paddles, and return to drive without your hands ever leaving the steering wheel. The engine at the outside of the car at the very front is quite loud for being brand new. I would expect an engine that you almost can't tell whether or not it's running from 10 feet away. This is not the case from inside. Very quiet.
The FASTkey keyless system is something I've wanted for a long time. No need to ever take the key out of your pocket. I really only wish that it would allow you to keep the car running, and lock the doors with the fob, but it won't. Also, when you leave the vehicle with the engine running, the car warns you with a series of several beeps which I find somewhat annoying since there is no way to turn it off.
The interior is very comfy, no cheap center console window controls like in some cars. Everything laid out nicely. Driver seat adjustments are great, although no lumbar adjustment that I have seen yet.
Overall I'm very happy with this car...read morehide

Traded down :( from a 06 Evo MR and really like this car. The performance hit is a big one but I had my fun and this is alot less cost to drive. Love the Nav/Computer/Music Server option. Music sounds great, much better then my $2900 system I put into the Evo and alot better then our Chrysler 300 stock/nav system. Test drive one with the computer system and you will have a hard time finding a better package deal. The wife is 5'2 and I am 6'3 and both fit fine. We have been getting about 23.5 mpg in city type driving useing the cruise control as much as we can. Paid just over $22,300 and have every option....read morehide
