If your looking to save some money and get a car that you can count on, this car is for you. It's not the best looking car, but it's not trying to be either. It does what it's supposed to, it gives you a lot of interior room and sips the fuel. Not a fast ride, but it's light enough to have pep.. Highly recommended......read morehide

I am very happy with the car overall. I have always been impressed with Nissan and for the money you pay this car doesn't let you down. From the outside you wouldn't guess but there actually is quite a bit of room.and even though the MPG is misleading, it's still a great buy. I'd recommend this car to anyone....read morehide

I just hit 40k and am very pleased to report that I now average over 30mpg in mixed driving, on straight freeway I have hit over 40, but mostly average 35. Overall very satisfied, excellent pep, great ride, always starts and so far never been back to the dealer for a repair. I just wish the dealers were as competent as this little car is! You can't go wrong with a Versa....read morehide

After owning a Nissan Sentra for many years and being VERY impressed witht the value I had gotten from owing it I was in the market to buy a new one. When I got to the dealership I looked at everything from the Altima down to the Versa and decided on this one for many reasons.
Reason 1: My husband is 6'4" and I am 5'2", in our old Sentra he always felt cramped, especially when driving. When he sat in the Altima it was a little better, but wasn't what he wanted if he was going to spend that dollar amount. Same with Sentra. Suprisingly, it was the Versa that offered the most comfortable seating for him of all three vehicles. Note: The Versa Sedan seating was not as comfortable as the hatchback.
Reason 2: We have an elderly parent who is in a wheelchair, this car sits up higher than the others making it easier to getithem in and out with room for the wheelchair in back.
Reaason 3. We shop for grocieries once a month, we liked the idea of a hatchback; more doors making it easier to get things in an out. We are very pleased, it's much easier than a Sedan. (Extra Value: Mats that you can turn over to carry messy items, like plants, soil, etc. Better yet, line the small area with heavy butcher paper, it lasts forever and you can pick it up and shake it out in your yard, then put it back until you need to replace with new). We loaded it up for a week long camping trip, 14 x 9 tent, a very large Coleman cooler, fishing equipment and everything else we with needed with no problem.
I've read other reviwes with people complaining about the mileage, in cooler weather we get close to 35MPG, running the air during hot months in the south it's 27 - 28 MPG. You can't get 33MPG on highway if you have to run the air during the summer and it's unreasonable to expect peak mileage performance in these conditions. Mileage in the city is better than expected all year round.
Overall, for the money this car has proven an excellent value and we are pleased with our purchase....read morehide

Good: I really love the keyless entry and bluetooth! Such a nice feature- all cars should have this! The back seats are big enough to fit five adults semi-comfortably (hey this is compact folks!) and when you weigh down the trunk the drive is much smoother than if you have nothing in the back (the car bounces when going on the highway). Bad: I've had this car for over a year now. Overall its a nice car for the money, but I would have picked a much different car if I wanted something that got under 22 MPG. Yes that's right! In big bold print the window sticker says 27/32 Estimated MPG... in little tiny print it says it can get as low as 22 MPG for city driving. I do -on average- both city and highway. I average 21-22 MPG. Consumer Reports stated the average should be around 28 MPG. I have also had a few issues with the electronics and the paint. The interior plastic easily gets scratches and well see how well the paint does with the salt on the roads . Overall a nice car but not a car I'm excited about....read morehide

I purchased this car Aug. 2007 after much research into small cars available at the time. I narrowed it down to the Versa, Fit and Yaris. I choose the Versa for the best packaging of room, comfort, and safety (best crash results at the time, and all air bags standard). Styling is also important, and though I don't necessarily think it is the best looking car on the road, I much prefered it to the rollerskate look of the Fit and disliked the center instruments of the Yaris. However, choosing the SL over the S was a no-brainer - more features and a much better quality and better looking interior seat material and dash trim with carbon fibre-look. I also choose the technology and sport package so have every option except the CVT transmission, preferring to do my own shifting. I see other reviewers complaining about the lack of map lights and center arm rest, etc. If you want such things, choose the correct model/package. I love all the features, especially the steering wheel controls for stereo and cruise control and the bluetooth. I regularly average 8.0L/100 km (29 mpg US, 35 mpg Imp) in mixed city and freeway driving. I try to keep the rpms around 2000 in urban driving, makes a difference. Some comment on the fact the back seats don't fold flat as in the Fit, but I've done a fair amount of hauling with the Versa and have not found any issues. My only problems have been a loose rear door rubber seal, fixed by the dealer, and some issues with not starting immediately on some occasions. This is obviously a fuel supply issue, and is mostly corrected by turning the key to the on position for a few seconds to engage the fuel pump before engaging the starter; works most time with no issues. Overall I am very happy with the car, enjoy the peppy driving experience with the 6-speed manual, quiet and comfortable ride, and have very positive comments from everyone who rides with me....read morehide

Well built, well designed car. CVT tranny is great. Quality is great.
Factory inspectors should stop the oil leak problem. I had mine fixed on warranty but it is a two day job.
Very happy with it.

Purchased this car in May 2007 with all the bells and whistle. Keyless entry and ignition, bluetooth, auto everything. I can fit 3 regular golf bags in the trunk and 4 occupants. Almost 30k miles now and no problems. Tire pressure monitoring system works when start of cold weather, you have to add air. I get a combo miles of 32, highway driving is 35mpg doing 70mph. This car is roomy in all areas: height and backseats. I'm very satisfied with this car....read morehide

Just exactly what I wanted and needed. A car I could afford that provides good gas mileage, comfort, and certainly roomy enough for several people.

Bought this car to replace a '93 GMC Jimmy, love it, some of the reviews are not true, I have power windows, power locks and every option but the Satellite Radio-who needs it, when Radio is free, and who really wants to listen to Howard. My Red car is beautiful, smooth, can barely hear the engine. Rides smooth, the engine never makes the shifting noise or pause because of the new Automatic. Great sun-roof, and as for the cup-holders there are 4 in the front 2 seats, One on each door and two on the front console. I do not want an arm rest, had one on the Jimmy and it just took up space. This small car has more interior room and space for passengers than my Jimmy did....read morehide
