I actually have the 2007 hatchback. Get loads of compliments on the appearance. Love the bluetooth and keyless starting. Put lots of miles on it (47,000+) to date.

We wanted a small car that my husband (6'2") and my son (6'4") would 'fit' into better than our last car. We 'tried on' several, but this one was the best fit ... for our budget, too. All 3 of us had good previous experiences with other Nissan vehicles, so this purchase was a natural. We didn't add any bells and whistles other than automatic and AC. We bought it Octover '08. LOVE the red exterior!...read morehide

Great looking car, love riding in it. When the reviews say roomy, they mean roomy from front to back, but not side-to-side. My dad commented how my Toyota Corolla seemed roomier, even though it has less space to stretch the legs. But I like sitting with my legs spread apart, like many guys, and that's when the Versa seems a little cramped, especially when seating three or more in the back. I like how the armrest and the cupholder come out in the middle in the back, making for a luxurious ride for those seated there.
The sound system leads much to be desired. There is not much bass, but the sound system has great features like a 6-CD audio changer, RDS radio, in-line jack to hook up your mp3 player, many presets, audio controls at the steering wheel, and the ability to play mp3 CDs.
The bluetooth is great, especially when traveling to states where it is illegal to hold your cell-phone and drive, and in more dangerous conditions like highway congestion and bad weather. The only problem is it is a hassle to set up in the beginning and can take longer to dial since you have to give voice commands and then confirm that the computer understood your command properly.
I like the car's more sporty ride, although uphill, just like the Corolla, the weaker V4 becomes noticeable.
Unlike our 2003 Corolla, this car does not have automatic lights at night, which resulted in a warning the first night driving the car. I think that the car being red in a brightly lit area helped the cop notice that too. One great thing, though, is that the car will continue to beep until you turn off the lights after you have turned off the engine. The car also beeps when you start to drive with the hand brake does, unlike the Corolla.
Like the Corolla, the seats in the back fold down to create a "bigger" trunk to store things, but they don't lie down as flat. However, the Versa's trunk is deeper than the Corolla.
I like how the side-view mirrors can be easily folded, which would have come in handy when I was backing out of a tight spot at a parking garage, when my Corolla's side-view mirror got slightly scratched in order to let me get out. Another great feature is an extra small window past each of the side-view mirrors, bringing in slightly more light and visibility.
The intelligent "keyless" ignition is cool, although a hassle too when you are wondering where to put the key and then you have to put it back into your pocket. I don't like the little noise it makes when you lock the door with your keys, but it is nice to have confirmation that it is locked and it might deter potential thieves.
I like the little storage devices in the car, like a cupholder built into the front doors, and the sunglasses storage on the ceiling near the rearview mirror.
I like the powerful A/C, which is cold from the beginning, which makes it much better than my Corolla's weak A/C, which takes a few minutes to get colder and doesn't get too cold, resulting in sweat during the summer months. Also, the Corolla's heating/AC can give off a stench at times.
Overall, the car seems somewhat luxurious on the inside, although a hassle at times, and I heard the reliability ratings are not as good from Consumer Reports, but with this being a new car, we will have to wait and see about that....read morehide

Excellent little car! I traded in my old Caddy for this in the "Cash for Clunkers" program. Paid a little over $6000 for it. It is SO worth the money. I thought I would be very uncomfortable going from such a large car to a small car but the transition has been painless! Plenty of headroom and legroom in both the front and back. Wonderful car!...read morehide
