I purchased my 2wd Xterra X about 2 months ago and couldn?t be happier. I purchased the base model with the only option of automatic transmission. I was able to negotiate the price to under 20k and feel I got a fair deal. I have no regrets choosing the 2wd model over the 4wd as the VDC/traction control system works well (although being in the Midwest it was extremely hard to find the 2wd I was looking for). So far I have no major complaints, the car rides well, is easy to drive, and has plenty of room for all my gear. As long as you don?t accelerate hard you should get decent mileage for an suv (I have been averaging 19 city and 25 hwy ? honestly). I knew getting the x model it wouldn?t have much but I do wish it would have an ipod adapter built in. Sometimes it can be had to see when backing up, but other than that it has been great. I have also been getting a ton of complements on how sweet my car looks!...read morehide

Just bought 09 Xterra last weekend. Lots of rebates and incentives available on 09's. Love the Xterra. Well built solid ride with comfortable features. Performs well and is loaded with lots of options. Had driven a 98 Jeep Wrangler so I am getting used to backing up in a larger longer vehicle but it's a nice dilemma to have. The quality of the vehicle is amazing. The V6 has plenty of power. Has lots of storage compartments throughout the interior. When compared to other manufacturers similar vehicles the Xterra more than shines....read morehide

I enjoy my 2006 Xterra. I bought it used, but would like to buy a new one someday. I had a problem with the dealership in Vegas and Nissan USA was no help, but the vehicle itself runs well. I like it. It is comfortable. I would recommend this vehicle, don't expect much help from Nissan USA if you have a problem with a dealership....read morehide

Great vehicle, handles amazing. bought an 08 used with 38,000 miles on it. first weekend i owned it, took it on a 1200 mile trip with four other friends, had the back cargo and utility rack packed full of camping equipment and still had plenty of room and I'm 6"1. Got 18.7 mpg with all that stuff. 21 to 23 on the highway when empty. it is also great for hunting , was very impressed with this vehicle, i don't regret buying the Xterra at all. LOVE IT...read morehide

Some of the other reviews are laughable. Apparently some bought the more spartan trim then complain it doesn't have the features they didn't purchase or complain service wasn't to their satisfaction but they accepted it. Surely anyone with average intelligence should be able to separate a malcontent's opinion from an honest review. The Xterra is 2 tons of high riding rugged truck with good mileage for it's class and more power than you're ever likely to need or use. Acceleration is amazing for a V6...Runs like a V8. Buy it and eliminate wheel alignments, axel and shock replacements ect inherant with a FWD....read morehide

I own a 2006 specifically for my dogs (2) to have a place to lay down. I call it my "dogmobile"! All three of us love it. My choice was prompted by the smaller SUV styling to haul things when I have the need. Purchased new, I got all I wanted: color (I was very specific), a few amenities, & a great price & I also get pretty good gas mileage. When I can, I will be purchasing the newest model just like the one I currently own....read morehide

The Xterra is all you need.
This is actually my second Xterra... the first one I owned was a 2005 that I was in an accident with. '88 dodge pick-up truck that turned in front of me, and I hit it doing about 40MPH. I walked away from the crash with a completely totalled vehicle, two abrasions on my shins and a burn from the airbag, but that was it. If that doesn't say anything about the safety of this vehicle, nothing does... well, that and I went straight back to the dealer and got a second Off-Road X. This one has 60k miles on it, has seen conditions from muddy Georgia Jeep Trails to Ohio winters and has yet to fail me in ANYTHING I ask of it. I'm an avid climbing/camper/caver/hiker and any amount of gear I need to carry, any trailer I need to tow, any number of people I need to transport I've been able to handle....read morehide

I compared this vehicle extensively with the toyota fj cruiser and this won out in every way.If you are an off road novice then get the fj cruiser. But if you want a vehicle that will take a beating and go anywhere plus run smoothly on the freeway, get an extera. I cofortably drive my offroad exterra every day on and off road without a hitch. It is built like a truck but still handles great. huge cargo space with rear seats folded. Nice rear seat when hauling around people, unlike the fj. More powerful engine than most v-8s. This is the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned....read morehide

I've loved my xterra. it's been hassle free for the 140,000 miles I've put on it. And as my friends will tell you, I haven't been gentle on the car. Whether I'm in the Sierras chasing trout, or hauling my dog to the beach & back, this car has been a reliable friend. My only complaint is that the gas mileage is not so great....read morehide
