I compared this vehicle extensively with the toyota fj cruiser and this won out in every way.If you are an off road novice then get the fj cruiser. But if you want a vehicle that will take a beating and go anywhere plus run smoothly on the freeway, get an extera. I cofortably drive my offroad exterra every day on and off road without a hitch. It is built like a truck but still handles great. huge cargo space with rear seats folded. Nice rear seat when hauling around people, unlike the fj. More powerful engine than most v-8s. This is the most versatile vehicle I have ever owned.
