I'm really enjoying this little Subaru. It has great pick up even with the automatic transmission and provides and nice stable ride. Handling is excellent though some body lean is present during hard cornering. Reliability seems great so far and the safety record is unmatched. Some items were left out to keep the price down (ex. no temp gauge). Rear seat room is adequate but not impressive. Fuel economy is only average but what can you expect from an AWD car? Pricing wise and for overall value you can't beat this vehicle....read morehide

This is my fourth Subaru. I keep a car on average 3 years, not my Subaru. They have always been reliable, useful, versital and really
good looking. I would recommend a Subaru to anyone, anytime.
Great car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Like others, I drove several cars prior to purchasing the Impreza: Corolla (nice but boring and major body lean on turns), Civic (too loud and cheap), Mazda 3(harsh ride), Astra(weird and many blind spots), and Rabbit, which is a nice car, however I chose the Subaru. This car is a great combination of fun, decent gas mileage, safety, and Subaru's great reputation for reliability, and it's kind of cool that there is not an Impreza on every corner or at every red light. My Impreza has a good balanced suspension, which is soft enough so you don't feel every pebble on the road(like the Mazda), yet firm enough where the sporty feel is not comprimised. One of my main concerns was the gas milage of the Impreza, but I finally decided that the safety features and ratings far outweighed a few mpg....read morehide

Greatly combines the wanted features, 5-speed manual, practical hatchback, peppy engine (2.5L) and AWD a bonus for the northeast. Overall fun and even the base model is sufficiently equipped.

I really like my Subaru. It's attractive, gets good fuel economy and handles great. It's user friendly, the knobs and dials are exactly where they should be and intuitive to use. Subarus are reliable (I've had Subarus before) and they last forever.

I drive a 2000 2.5RS, love this car. I like what Subaru is doing with the performance side of the STi, but I am not a fan of the direction they are going with the stlying. All the new soobs look like Hondas or Mitsu's. Not a Fan. Let's bring the headlights and fog lights back.

i am a 61 year old male who owned a 06 STIuntil it was stolen 3months ago. The best car in my life! I bought the 2009 STI after extensive research of the STI and the EVO.
But, this choice was made knowing that I would need to spend at least several grand to make it perform like my 2006. Plus, just saying who cares how it looks. (for the record, I liked to scoop and whale tail) i hope it works!
Stock, the 2009 has a soft clutch that feels like a VW from 1960.
The body rolls like my wife's Lexus and boats also.
A coilover will hopefully correct the boat, roll problem. My mechanic says adjustment of the clutch may give it more feel. Then aftermarket intake, exhaust, reflash the chip and the 2009 should be a great car.
But, i will always miss the 2006 to include the looks.
Now you have my thoughts, would someone explain why it was necessary to lower the red line?
Why didn't I get the Evo which was several grand less?
I like the STI motor, my mechanic does not like the EVO's and i did not like the extra weight. But, the steering was great.
In summary: Like so many things nothing is perfect in life....read morehide

This is a cute small Japanease car with AWD. And this is as many pros as this car can get.
Still has 4 speed auto, and even less horses then a previous model.
The radio and the cheap plastic inside the cabin is a complete turndown.
Sophisticated AWD on otherwise boring and outdated platform.

I ordered a 2009 WRX Premium sedan in October and picked it up this week with just 9 miles on the odometer. The car looks superb inside & out. Subaru got this car right with its upgrades over the 2008 WRX. It has matured perfectly.
It is still in the break-in period, so I haven't brought the engine above 4,000 rpm. But the car feels like it wants to sling-shot forward above 3,000 rpm. This car is easy to drive regarding the clutch, shifter, steering & brakes. It is quiet, roomy and comfortable.
I had performance winter tires installed last night and drove home from the Subaru dealer in a snow storm. I drove into some empty, unplowed parking lots to test the traction & control of the WRX.
Let me tell you, as a long-time owner of front-wheel drive Honda products, this Subaru is the bomb! I felt like Petter Solberg or Travis Pastrana blasting through virgin snow with superb control. Where my Honda & Acura FWD cars would've gotten stuck, the WRX powered through without even a backward glance.
This car is fun!...read morehide

I love my car! This is the first manual I've ever owned. I was looking at the Subaru Legacy GT Spec B however, we couldn't afford it. So I decided to look at the impreza. I couldn't go down in power from my previous car and I heard fairly bad reviews by WRX enthusiasts of the 2008 WRX. I knew the 2009 WRX had a good jump in power. Once I got the hang of the manual, I loved driving this car! The fuel economy is great as long as you don't put your foot in it or let the RPMs reach above 3K. The combined fuel economy on this one is so much better than my last car with more power. I can't wait to start adding some mods so people will hear me before they see me. The car also has plenty of interior space. It has as much interior space as my 05 Mazda6 did. Not as much trunk space but that is solved by the hatchback version and folding down the rear seats. Mitsu better come out with something great in the new Ralliart otherwise they'll get spanked by this beast. Don't get me wrong, it's not as fast as my fiance's 2006 STI, but it is quick to keep you interested. It's probably only a few tweaks away from being as fast as the STI is stock....read morehide
