At first i was looking at the 2009 lancer ralliart, but when i realized what the 2009 wrx had to offer, i changed my mind then and there. This car is fast, awd , and looks a lot better then most cars. i like the look of the older models a lot more, but u grow into the newer ones also. For the price buying it new, there really isnt any other car that i believe can compete =)...read morehide

I bought this car about a month ago and love it. I was also looking at the VW GTI and the Mazda Speed3, and as far as I was concerned, they didn't compare to the WRX. The acceleration is amazing and the ride is comfortable. For the money you aren't going to find a faster car, especially not one that has symmetrical all wheel drive. This car basically sells itself on the test drive. As soon as I got it out on the road I knew I was going to buy it.
Gas mileage has been better than advertised with my worst tank of gas averaging just under 24 mpg and my best around 26.5 mpg and I haven't been driving slowly (no tickets yet!).
As for the other reviewer who complained about their insurance doubling, that wasn't the case for me at all. Previously I was driving a 2003 Nissan Exterra 4X4 and my premium went up about $40 a month with the WRX, which is certainly more money, but no where near double.
For the money, and in this particular car class, I really don't think you're going to find a better car and I'm really happy with the purchase....read morehide

I purchased a 2009 Subaru Impreza WRX in December. I only drove it 800 miles when the engine threw a rod and had to be replaced. The dealership was insinuating that I have been abusing my car before they fixed it. Now the car is sluggish and guzzling gas but Subaru won't fix it - they are saying there is nothing wrong with it, but this is NOT the fun car I bought, it is a chore to drive, it stalls and does not have the power it did before the engine failed. We have found out that the engine failure is common on this model made between July and September of 2008 - mine was made in August. They have replaced my engine but the car is not what I bought and their service is condescending and incompetent. I have not paid 30 thousand dollars to drive a car that drives like my old Honda Civic....read morehide

Before you even test drive this car check the insurance rates. After 2 test drives, I fell in love with the car and then found out that my insurance would DOUBLE if I bought one. It's reasonably priced but when you factor in increased insurance, premium fuel and relatively poor fuel economy, I'm not sure it's worth it. If you don't mind the added expenses, this is an amazing vehicle....read morehide

Great car and mileage. Fast, reliable and it's a SUBARU. I have owned 6 of them in my 45 years of driving. All had over 250,000 miles on them when I bought a new one. I also own a 2009 Forester as the family car. I would never switch to another car company since I have had so much fun with the 6 I have owned. Low maint....read morehide

For the enthusiast, this is such a great car. Year round performance in a daily driver that can be used to pick up stuff at the hardware store, carry your kayak, and zip past most anything on the road. The value of performance is outstanding. Yes, the 2009 WRX is as fast, or technically, faster than the STI. Don't be fooled, a loaded WRX is close to 30K. My STI was 35K and came with everything but driving lights and BBS rims. With the STI you get Brembro brakes, fender flares, more power, differential control, and QTY 3 throttle settings. The value is certainly there with the WRX, but if you are a driving enthusiast, go for the STI.
I can't think of a better car for performance in a daily driver that could easily be a race car on the track. I love this car, and you will too....read morehide

Been driving this car for almost a year .. its been a joy everytime we roll in it.. although petrol consumption might be high ..but still reasonable considering the power you get. Very nice feel attacking corners althought the steering is a bit soft.. Love the braking n pickup.. powerband from 1-3k is a bit weak till the turbo kicks in which is roughly 4k rpm .....read morehide

At first, this car took a bit of time to get used to. After 2 weeks I finally got the clutch down. The clutch is feather soft so it's awkward at first.
PROS:
The look of the new ones with the improved tail lights, gorgeous wheels, and sleek hood scoop has drawn a lot of compliments from friends, family, even strangers! The interior is pretty sweet too. The WRX seats are not only super comfortable, but they look awesome with the red WRX logo on the seatback. The seats and the steering wheel both have red stitching to add to the aesthetic appeal. And the fact that the audio system adjusts volume based on how fast you're driving is absolutely awesome.
CONS:
Although few, there are still a few cons with this car. The first being fuel economy. I know there are plenty cars out there with worse fuel economy, this car can burn through fuel like nobody's business when you drive it the way it's supposed to be driven ;) The other downside, which to me is even more of a downside is that the turbo only kicks in at around 4,000 RPM. Therefore, as soon as the turbo kicks in and you feel like you're flying, you're already redlining it and you have to shift immediately. If the turbo kicked in a bit sooner in the RPM range, this thing would be almost too much fun to drive!...read morehide

Great deal for the money. Was considering Mazdaspeed 3, but this car just felt so much better and the AWD was the final selling point. I didnt want a Hatch because they look like kids cars, and the sedan is great looking.

Just traded my G35 to buy this car. I test drove a 335 and the STI and loved the STI. The car is fast and responsive and handles like a champ. So far I am enjoying every bit of it. The acceleration is smooth with no noticible turbo lag. Also, the interior is roomy and the seats are comfortable. The stereo is decent and a the ride is soft enough for daily driving, yet the car no doubt will be a monster at the track. I also love the hatchback design and the spoiler in the back....read morehide
