The power on this vehicle is great for a four cyl. easy enough to get going in any traffic situation. Handling is smooth and reactive in an emergency situation. Comfort is traditional Toyota. They know how to transport people in comfort.
Gas mileage is outstanding. Average in town has been between 34 to 36 mpg and on a recent trip to San Antonio Texas received 44.7 mpg and 40.7 on the return trip! Love my Camry Hybrid!!!!...read morehide

Handles well and is very comfortable. I enjoy passing up many gas stations before needing one! Climate control is good.

I traded in a 2008 Prius because it was a bit too small for me. I have back problems and getting in and out wasn't the easiest. However, I did like the gas mileage of the Prius at an average of about 45 MPG but the engine also screamed when I accelerated hard in order to pass or needed extra power. The Camry Hybrid is a completely different offering. Quiet, lots of power, luxurious leather interior, larger (power) seats with lumbar support and nice heavy feel. It's very similar to a Lexus ES350 I had a few years ago. But there are a few things missing. A backup camera (which I had the dealer install) and bumper sensors (which I also had the dealer install) Unfortunately, the backup camera had to be attached to a bracket and is not tucked away underneath like the Prius camera. It makes it very vulnerable to theft - easy to cut the wires and yank off. I'm going to try and find a custom shop that will cut a hole underneath like the Prius. As for gas mileage, I average about 34.5 MPG in town and freeway. I do have hills where I live so that may be why I don't get good mileage as others report. But 34.5 is very respectable for a large luxury car. I've yet to take a long trip to see how it does on the freeway but if it's like the Prius, it should get a little better mileage. The Camry Hybrid engine does "shudder" a little more than the Prius on takeoff. I've gotten use to it. I've also found that 40 MPH is the sweet spot where I can cruise without the engine kicking in. Once the car is warmed up the engine is a little better but the "shudder" on takeoff is still noticeable. It's a great car and I hope to keep it until my lease is up - which is kind of confusing. I traded in my 2008 loaded Pruis and they pre-paid 3 years lease (I hate car payments) and installed the backup camera and bumper sensors and gave me back $3,000 cash. My residual is $17,000. The MSRP on the car was $32,000. I think I got a good deal? I went to 3 other dealers and none came close to what Thousand Oaks Toyota gave me....read morehide

We bought our Hybrid in Feb.08 and LOVE it! We've really worked out how to drive it to it's best performance and usually get 41-45 mpg in the city and 50 hwy. AMAZING CAR! It fits our two kids very nicely in the back with plenty of leg room. We got the gps, ipod connection, and bluetooth which really saves us on roadtrips. The only thing is trunk space, it is tight with two kids, however, it is worth the hassle to spend a few bucks for gas a month....read morehide

I bought my hybrid in April 2008. Haven't had any problems. It's an excellent car. Great mileage. I have bought Toyota autos/trucks since 1990 and wouldn't buy any other brand.
