we baught our 09 prius in june. in august we drove from maine to florida and back...put just under 4600 miles on it round trip, and it only took just over 100 gallons of gas. i'm impressed and can't seem to understand why we can't make an american car that will do the same. Also, in sept, we took a trip to quebec, on the way home, we hit a moose...car took a beating but no one was injured and the car responded excellently to the evasive driving i had to do to avoid hitting the second moose.. overall, 2 thumbs up!!!!...read morehide

My 08 Prius is the greatest thing since the invention of the wheel. I'm averaging 49.5 mpg on the twists and turns of California's North coast, and get up to 52 mpg when I'm driving on the freeway . The cargo space is big enough to carry a friend's wheelchair and an assortment of bags, boxes, etc. And the back seat is comfortable, even for leggy people. I love having the backup camera and using the phone without a hassle. Purchased in late '08, I've already logged 40K miles without a hitch. The stock tires wore out quickly, but the Proxies I put on give decent handling and a good ride, plus they don't wear out too fast. I rotate my tires and change the oil every 3,000 miles....read morehide

This is our 2nd Prius & I have driven over 80,000 miles in the two. I got an "honeswt 50mpg on my last tank. The screen showed 48.9.
our 06 didn't do as well. They do well in snow if you put on an aggressive A/S tread or snow tires. Obviously you won't get the good mpg's. Stopping in snow is the same on all vehicles.
My biggest complaint is the seat comfort. I complained on our 06 & no change in the 09. My wife & I get stiff backs from 2-3 hour drives.
Listen up Toyota, assuming you read these.
It is tops for headroom & backseat leg room. I have carried eleven 5 gallon containers in the back with the seat up (550 lbs.) The hatch back with fold down seats give it a lot of flexability.
Compare the Prius to Jettas, Golfs, & other cars in it's price range.
I found it favorable for my needs. The Hondas are too small & the Fords are pricey. I assume that Ford is still using Toyota's pre 2004 hybrid technology.

I just drove 3800 miles round trip from Kitty Hawk NC to San Antonio Tx. Interstate 95 and Interstate 10.... average speed 70 mph or higher... I averaged 48 miles per gallon or more each tank. Incredible.... especially since there were 2 adults and 3 teenagers in the car.

love this car. if your having trouble with lights reflecting on windshield read the manual there is a switch for day and night . getting better mpg as car gets broken in about 46mpg right now, front seat would be great if it was a 4 way power friends that are tall are impressed with the leg room i love the smart key not having to look for key fob when arms are full, and being abe to relock the whole car from the hatchback, again read the manual to get the best out of the car it's our first prius and we could not be happier it was the last one on the lot in our area...read morehide

I recently bought the Prius 2010 3rd generation about a week ago, my previous car was a Toyota Tacoma that was manual EVERYTHING. I was used to having my keys to my car on a lanyard around my neck to prevent myself from getting locked out of my car but with this new Prius, there isn't necessarily a key to start the car. There's a little control that sends a wireless notification to your car when your about two feet away from the driver's door to automatically turn on it's cabin lights, also acts as a smart key to turn the vehicle on w/o being a key. Have a tendency to lock yourself out of your car? The car will beep automatically if you leave your keys in the car!
There's so much room that I have to get used to but is making much use for it since my boyfriend is a tall feller - he's 6' and sits comfortably in the passenger seat. Controls on the steering wheel is very useful and if you get a car with bluetooth, it's AMAZING. There's a little compartment in the center console that will fit a purse, wallet or anything you'd need to store closely to you.
I'm still getting used to all the gag its and I do need to get used to the bulkyness of the car.
btw, I love the GPM because I'm known to be lazy with putting gas in my car....read morehide

I have owned my 2007 Prius for 3 years. I live in Minnesota and drive it to work every day. The milegage is average 45 in the coldest winter and above 55 in the summer. Oil change is done every 5000 miles and it has been very reliable. It's quiet and comfy. I am proud of owning a Prius.
