We love this car. With the mileage increase over the mileage of the trade in, it pays for itself in 5 years. My wife loves the car so much she won't hardly let me drive it at all. My next new vehicle will be another Prius.

I wish I had looked at this car earlier. This car is way ahead of most competitors. With the key in your pocket, the door unlocks when you approach. When you get in you find a car well thought out and roomy (yes roomy). I tried the back seat and found it is one of the easiest to enter/exit and again spacious) You start the car with the push of a button (the key stays in your pocket). When the car is started there is dead silence. The car starts in electric mode. As you pull away you will hear the gasoline motor start running. Switching between gas and electric is seamless and automatic. The only time you hear the gasoline engine is on hard acceleration. anytime you let up the accelerator or stop the gas motor stops. The electric motor captures the energy created when you step on the brake and charges a battery. That energy is reused when you take off (electric mode). The transmission dosen't shift. It has a variable speed transmission that again is seemless. At 75 to 80 mph the mileage dropped to 42 mpg. The mileage around town has been 44mpg. I have 3000 miles on it so far. The touring edition has a built in GPS (Global Positioning Service) that will guide you on a trip with a map and voice commands. The car also comes with a backup camera that turns on anytime you put the car in reverse. This a car you simply have to take for a test drive to see what I am talking about....read morehide

I recently purchased toyota prius and do love this car!!
The estimate mpg is offically stated as 48/45, but I hit 53.6mpg for city and freeway combined, 60 miles. I was so glad to see how this car performs!!
Also, the seats are so comfortable that my wife and I was never tired for long drive..
I always plays music during driving, so if there were better sound system, It would be more than perfect.
This car is absolutely the best car which I have had !!...read morehide

Toyota is a reliable brand, Prius is like lexus just a grade lower. Prius is a quiet car and a funny drive. You get the hang of it pretty fast and such an ease to drive it. Simple and full of functions and pleasing the driver as you start to get engaged in the console save the fuel game.
This car can easily achieved 20km/l no sweat. Cruise like a stealth car during low speed drive and very quiet. Ample spaces to put your stuff and rear seat folding add to its space flexibility management.
Comfort was above average, especially for big size guys. The quality is good and the everything looks to be fitted nicely. Looks of the car is debatable and i think the looks will grow on you over time.
Overall a great family car, Fuel sipping, great mileage and utility pack and flex-spaces for a decent car with advanced Hybrid Tech.
Ford,Nissan too uses Toyota Hybrid Synergy drive why choose them?...read morehide

** Performance:
I get over 40mpg during the summer in Phoenix, running the AC all the time, driving the same way I always have. In the winter months I get a maximum of 46 mpg, but most of my driving is over 55mph on freeways, and that's the best the gasoline engine can deliver.
Although it's reasonably peppy around town, the 1.5L engine is anemic on the highway, and horribly noisy during hard acceleration.
Although this model comes with so-called "High-Intensity Discharge" headlights, the amount of light on the road still doesn't compare to the halogen lights on my old 1998 Camry.
** Interior needs better human engineering:
The seats don't move back far enough for drivers with long legs like me (I am 6' 1"), they're hard as a rock, and not adjustable for seat-bottom pitch --all of this causing my knees to cramp and my butt to go to sleep on long trips. No place to rest my right knee, and I find I must hold my right foot up in an uncomfortable position on the accelerator pedal.
The "voice-activated" NAV system interface is so user-unfriendly that we seldom attempt to use it - falling back instead on manual control.
The instrument lights are not smart enough to dim and brighten between day and night, but rather are tied to the headlight control, so they must be manually switched with the brightness dial if you leave your headlights on all the time. The digital clock is always unreadable on a bright day -- WHY?. Glare from the speedometer panel reflects off the inside of the windshield at night.
** COST:
Don't believe the advertising! With the highest-level option package (#6), and all dealer preparation (including window tinting), the delivered cost for my 2008 Prius Touring model was over $30K.
Altogether, I generally LIKE driving this car; I LOVE the MPG, but it has the most uncomforable driver's seat of any car I have owned....read morehide

regret buying the car. unsafe in snow and sleet and rain. in minimal snow the car wheels spin and nothing moves. you need a good friend to push you up a hill and a parachute to slow down when going donw hill in slippery weather as there is only drive and neutral and the brake. If you have second car, go for it if not ford hybrid 4wd.c...read morehide

Performance and stability of the car is excellent for the size. Overall its an excellent car. Beware that the Toyota dealers over charge you for service on this car compared to the Honda I previously owned, its double the cost for an oil and filter change. Toyota dealer charges $80.00 Honda charges $39.00....read morehide
