This is my second Rav. The only thing I wish that was different is that the driver's seat also went up instead of back and forth. I am fairly short and although it's not a major problem, it is just an inconveince. I also have a Mercury Mountaineer (1998). Now that is a nice driver's seat!...read morehide

I bought 6 cylinder trim of RAV4 on 2008, July. I am driving this car since then and it is really a pleasure to drive a vehicle like this. I drove many Cars and SUVs but to be honest this is one of its own class. This is tremandous fast as compared to any SUV and the control is simply superve. Excellent turns and overall reliability is awesome. I am a true fan of this SUV and I think it will be hard for me to find a better vehicle than this one later if I want to upgrade. The interior is simple but very efficient and thoughtfully designed. I would recommend any body any day to buy this instead of any other SUVs of the same class....read morehide

After looking at the Honda Accord, Honda CRV, Toyota Camry, Toyota Rav4, and Acura TSX, I purchased my 2009 Toyota Rav4 Limited V6 4x4 almost a month ago - just hit the 1,000 miles mark on it today. This is my first Toyota - I see why people are loyal to the Toyota brand - this is a well built, solid vehicle. The car is fully loaded V6, leather, 4x4, push button smart key ignition, bluetooth, sunroof, JBL 6-CD Premium Audio excluding the Navigation System and the back-up camera. The bluetooth is great - every car manufacturer should be using this technology. No more trying to find my phone to answer it with the bluetooth activated. Premium Audio system rocks! Gas mileage has averaged between 20-22 depending on need for speed plus the majority of driving is city not highway as I live in the city.
This is my first "foreign" car. My last vehicle was a Chrysler made in Mexico - go figure. I have not used the 4x4 yet since I purchased in May, 2009 so I can't comment on how it handles in the snow....read morehide

I got the '08 RAV, and it is the best car (out of at least 20) I have owned. The leather seating is worth every penny. The upgraded stereo rocks, and it is a little rocket (V6). The heated seats are good but don't quite get warm enough. The reclining rear seats make family road trips tolerable, though they could be softer and have better support. The interior is roomy and the details shine. Buy all the options you can afford, as they are all well done. Gas mileage has averaged about 20 overall, and I use the fast accelleration too much. Getting the spare off the rear door would make it look better, but would probably reduce the hidden storage under the cargo area, which is a great feature. The bluetooth phone option works great. I wish I would have got the pushbutton start. Buy a RAV 4 V6 AWD you won't regret it!...read morehide

Now this is what is an amazing ROAD feel. Guys who understand what I am saying will get it right away. I went in to buy a HONDA CRV but I hated its too soft drive with no road feel. I agree with people calling a Honda more comfy for families but guys RAV4 is a different class. LEave the CRV for mummys. Men buy RAV4. At least test drive BOTH before you make a purchase..
BEST THINGS:
Driving feel, practical storage space in the boot, awesome decent and graceful looks with all its curves and broad base.
ANNOYING THINGS:
My wife and me are fed up with the fact that they did not put in dedicated rear ventilation ducts for AC for rear passengers. And when you blow AC to top fan levels to cool rear passenger area, the noise is Unacceptable. This thing alone is a NON-PRACTICAL and NON_PROFESSIONAL approach for a car manufacturers. Even many year older models have these things.
People do complain of the tail gate which opens backwards rather than upwards. That does make you a bit uncomfortable when you are in a parking trying to load something into boot and you ahve to have extrra clearance space for the rear tail gate. If it were opening upwards, it would make you less worried if someone will bang into it.
Also, the rear mid passenger seat is a bit too stiff. Best for short commutes only if there are three in rear seats. But other wise its got plenty of room in rear.
For people who want a better version with 7-seat options whould go for HIGHLANDER(In the USA) or KLUGER(In australia)...read morehide

I love the navigation system, the dvd player, leather seat, and sunroof/moonroof. It is powerful at off roading.
