I had purchased a new 2009 Toyota Tacoma V6 TRD Off-Road in Sep 2008. After about a month I started having front end shake, it was an annoying shake every so often. I had taken it to 2 different dealerships, & they said it was normal for this truck to shake a little bit. At my own expense I tried 3 different sets of wheels & tires, but the problem stayed.
Also, there had been a shake in the floor that comes from Toyota's poor design: 2-piece drive-shaft. Dealership said that was normal too. At my own expense I had the drive-shaft re-balanced at an Axle place.
I had spoken to Toyota customer service, they did not help at all. This is/was my 3rd Tacoma, I have had 2000 & 2006 models before & they were flawless. Toyota has started making these trucks in Mexico, & I would caution on this purchase. Please note that these problems can be fixed if we start replacing parts one at a time, but then again, whats the point in buying a NEW vehicle.
I have traded my truck for another vehicle....read morehide

This is my second Tacoma and I love it. First one was 4cyl 4x2 with 100K. Never had issue. Had 2009 4WD for 35,000 miles already and aside from the annoying and bizarre behavior of the radio it's been a dream. I live in N.E. city and no issues in the heaviest, sloppiest snow. Put K&N filter and denso iridium plugs to get 23MPG. My next truck will be a Tacoma after I pile 400K on this one!!!!...read morehide

It's simple - if you need a mid-size truck, this is your only choice. I opted for a 4Runner with a small trailer because I don't need extra carrying capacity every day, 4Runner is cheaper AND still is made in Japan. Did not regret for a split second!

This is my 4th Toyota Truck. The reliablity of the vehicles is great. I had 77,000 miles on my last truck and had never had it in the shop once for any work other then oil and tire changing. My other two were just as dependable. I drive 53 miles to work every day and found very dependable!

good truck, happy overall with everything.Radio has to be replaced 4000 miles.7000 mile no other problems to date.Dont really care for cloth on door armrets.I work construction jumping in your truck sweaty n dirty has already began to show signs of wear.Truck has plenty of power for what it is.It is a little sluggish towing a 3000 lb boat but has no prob doing so,no problem stopping that same load either.Went on a recent road trip got 23mpg doing 70mph with premium fuel.Truck runs better and gets better mpg with premium.Toyota gave me a great deal and i am happy with the purchase....read morehide

I like my Toyota. It is a great little 4x4. I have two complaints; the airconditioner went out (on high fan only) in less than 9000 miles , the radio went nuts at 4000 miles. I am still waiting for a radio.

I've never owned a pickup before this one, but I was living in VT, and having trouble on back roads with my car. I bought a 2008 4cyl. Access Cab Manual transmission SR5, and absolutely love this truck!! I drove it all the way to Alaska, and now I live in Anchorage. This truck is stellar off road, and in snow and ice. The bed is roomy, and there is not a noticeable difference in power (from the 6 cyl. my friend has) unless the truck is really weighed down. I've driven it nearly 20k miles, and had ZERO problems. I would easliy recommend this to anyone looking for a reliable truck. The only time I thought the 4 cyl is inadequate was when I traveled through the rockies on I-70, and when I towed a small U-Haul trailer through the Green Mountains from Vermont to New York. Other than that, it's a stellar truck, and I have absolutely no complaints....read morehide

This replaced a 2000 6ycl 4WD extended cab Mileage is poor by comparison and this is only a 4 cyl with no 4WD
No intermittent wipers, the radio needs replacing, and it makes noises that I refuse to believe are "normal". It won't have the longevity of other Toyota trucks, less than a year, rust is appearing....read morehide

We just leased a base model 2009 Double cab for our gardening business. I don't understand how Toyota can leave out a simple feature like intermittent wipers (which I consider safety related) when they include such safety items as stability and traction control on base models. Also would like headlight left on warning chime and keyless entry. I get electric windows and locks but not intermittent wipers? Come on Toyota please find more intelligent ways to group option package features!...read morehide
