I love my 2007 Yaris 3 door liftback. I haven't had to do any repairs since I bought it in March 2007. I get an average of 35-36 mpg mixed driving. One time I got it up to 41 mpg! It's an amazing little car for such a cheap price. Acceleration is great, but the more people you have in the car, the slower it goes. There is an amazing amount of space inside, but you might have to fold down the seats to fit all of your groceries inside. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone!...read morehide

I love my Yaris. I bought it new, the showroom/test drive model. It was the only hatchback they had in my city at the time. We live in the desert, so we live a good 15-20 miles from the city itself, so we put plenty of drive time on the car quickly. I have nothing bad to say about it. I took it to Monument Valley where the roads aren't graded well and bounce you around like crazy, it performed incredibly well. I took it to Mesa Verde, suffering summer hale storms worse then I had seen in Germany for 12 years, dust and heat that was incredible in the desert, and non of it phased the car or compromised my comfort or safety. It was very efficient with gas, so much so I usually actually get better mileage than they claim it gives. I enjoy driving it, and it totally does not feel small or seem tiny. The interior is spacious enough that even my family was surprised at how much space it has. I can flip the seats and take my 3 Dalmatians anyplace I want, or haul quite a lot of stuff-- just like a stationwagon with two front seats. It's worth it to buy the safety package with the airbags and keyless entry if you like that. Really, this is a great car and for the price you get everything you really need. My favorite feature is the drivers glovebox, it should come standard with every car!...read morehide

Pros: A lot of engineering went into this car. The back seat reclines, moves forward and backward, and folds flat. There are extra compartments underneath the back cargo area. The timing belt is actually a chain, so it last longer. The steering is electronic, so there's less to maintain with hydraulics. There's an engine immobilizer so the car can't be stolen.
At 23XX pounds, it's a hundred pounds lighter than a Miata, lighter than most every other car. At 150 inches long, it's just a couple inches longer than a mini, and shorter than a Miata. Yet, the cargo hold will fit a full size chest. I'm averaging 36 - 38 miles per gallon driving in the city, and I'm not trying to save gas.
Cons: thin paint job, driver's chair has no height adjustment... I'm not sure if it's just me, but other drivers seem to tend to cut me off more when I'm in this car....read morehide

i purchased this brand new with the whole package. i had 2 special order it at my dealership cause they were so popular and everyone was buing them like hotcakes! i had 2 wait 4 weeks for the '09, an i ended up getting a 2010 cause they were distributing them to the dealrship anmore. well, it was soooo worth the wait! I got the next yr model, and this car was exactly how i thought it would be! It's so small and cute on the outside which tricks you, cause inside is so roomy with lots of compartments to store lil' items! i just filled my tank the other day, and this lil' car is by far the most fuel efficient. $20 bucks and i got a full tank! also, it's soo quiet while driving and has lots of get -up-and go speed! this car is awesome. i recommend buying one if you wan to save money and be economical. I'm so glad I purchased this than any car out there! It's so cute! :-D...read morehide

I bought a 2007 Toyota Yaris 3 door hatchback with power mirrors, power locks, power windows and winter package. I had to wait a day to get the package I wanted in my second color choice that I wanted. Best 4 wheel designed car I have owned or have ever seen. Fully loaded with personal items to the roof, the Yaris got 35 mpg highway in the Interstate. My Yaris even has duel front wheel drive, which managed to pull me part way up my driveway with 4 inches of snow covered with 1/2 of ice on the driveway. Love the fact that the Yaris has 4 cubby holes and 2 fold out cup holders. The entrance to my driveway has a 30 degree up hill slope. After driving the Yaris for more than a year, I traded in my Ford Ranger 4.0L motor, which get 20 mpg highway, for a second used 2007 Toyota Yaris 3 door hatchback. I now have two car payments totaling $480 a month. That is now much I love my Yaris 3 door hatchback...read morehide

If you are looking for a car thats good on gas (I get 35+ on every tank) easy to drive, and very user friendly, this is for you! I went from spending a few hundred a month on gas in my SUV, to spending 20-40 bucks with my yaris. This car looks small, but trust me, its big inside! I fit 4 people with great leg room left for all. it can fit 5, but I haven't had the chance to. I have my sub in the trunk, and still have room for when I get food etc. If I need more room, I can always lay the back seat down and I got the same room as in my SUV! For a small car, it is pritty safe. I've seen a few of these wrecked, and tho if you get hard, it will get totalled... you will come out safe and sound!
I didn't really care for the audio system it came with. For most people its liveable. But I spent some bucks and got it fully decked out. (if you spend the few hundred to sound dampen the car - its worth it!)
Its not the most manly car (I got a few laughs cause im 24/m ) but once they are in it, they love it. so its all good. They aren't the one paying for my car/ gas / insurance!
Did I also say I valet park in las vegas? so i've driven basicly every car out there that is to be driven. and for a car under 20k, its the best out! Its very very reliable.
I bought mine used with 4k miles on it. (so basicly new) for 12,400 after tax... and its fully loaded. Sold my SUV for 8k.. so for 4,400.. I got a new car.. and im happy to know, it will pay itself off in under 2 years.
They also hold their value extremely well, and it just makes me laugh, knowing, when gas prices go back up, so will my car's value....read morehide

I'm not a car expert or anything, so I'm writing this from the viewpoint of a relatively normal person. I bought my liftback automatic 2 years ago in 2007.
I'm a tall guy (6' 4") and fit pretty comfortably in the driver's seat. I think if I were any taller it wouldn't work! It would be nice if you could lower the seat in addition to moving it back and forth, though. The display panel is pretty minimal but it has everything you need. The windshield is nice and large you so you can see where you're going with no troubles. I don't know if the Yaris has a good turning radius but I've been able to make some pretty tight turns and move it into places that would have been impossible with my SUV. Maybe the snub nose helps you avoid running into things? My apartment garage has all kinds of pillars to avoid and I can't imagine trying to get a Hummer in there!
The mileage is OK. My roommate's MINI seems to get better mileage as well as my girlfriend's Civic. I get worse than stated mileage in the city but better than stated on the highway, so go figure. I keep pretty obessive stats and have found that my mileage has gone down a little from when I first got it, but only by 2-4 MPG's.
My friends fit pretty comfortably in the back seats (none are as tall as me). They're pretty nice in that they also recline back! They're much much more comfortable than my roommate's MINI. I've been in the back of both and much prefer the Yaris. The "trunk" space is OK. Obviously there's not a lot of it, but I'm able fit my groveries back there pretty easily. You can always fold the rear seats down to fit more stuff or some pretty large objects.
I like the fact there are 3 glove compartments and a couple of other small spaces to put stuff. There are also cupholders galore!
The handling is good enough for me. I don't feel unsafe on the streets or the highway. I'd obviously lose in a drag race against anything other than Geo Metro, but it has enough power for my needs. :)
On the highways, the noise becomes a bit loud. It's kind of annoying to have to turn up the volume on the radio so loud. The ride isn't as smooth as Lincoln but it's OK for my needs. I've made some pretty long drives and felt comfortable at the end.
To sum up, I think this is a great car if you live in a city and parking is at a premium. The mileage is OK for the size, but still pretty good. Lots of storage space for a small car. It's small, cute, and performs well....read morehide

I had to get rid of my 2003 Toyota Corolla (which I was very happy and satisfied with) because I developed sciatica in my right leg and the seat was very low. Getting out of that car became so painful that it became almost impossible. The Yaris is a taller car, and subsequently has a considerably higher seat, which makes my driving life a lot easier. But equally importantly, I'm sold on Toyotas, and my dealer is only three blocks from my home.
I love the ride, and the car is very peppy. It can get up to 65 miles an hour in a matter of twenty seconds, and the gas economy is truly amazing, which these days is essential. The car definitely has a "cute" look about it (though this is entirely subjective!). The car is a lot of fun to drive, making turns nice and smoothly, and parking it is a pleasure. In terms of size, it is no smaller than the 1986 Toyota Corolla I drove twenty years ago. I opted for 3 door hatchback because it enables to completely put down the back seat to make tons of room for storage.
I do not do a lot of driving, and I live in Chicago. I'm only good for about 4000 miles a year (if that!), and the distances I travel are small - usually within 20 miles of home. Occasionally I take it to the suburbs, and have no problem getting the car to go up to 70 miles per hour on the expressway, which is more than enough. This car is perfect for my driving needs and for my life-style. I'm very satisfied with having acquired this car, and am impressed with the air bags on the sides as well as the two front seats.
For those who are looking for functional transportation at an incredible reasonable price, I can't see how you're going to do better than this. For me, however, this was the answer....read morehide

Bought the car new at a good price. Had remote locks and PW installed, plus alloy wheels and fog lights. Wife drives it and loves it. It is the perfect city car. I'm 6'1" and have plenty of headroom. I find the seats comfortable. I change my own oil, and on this one it is a breeze! Ten minutes tops. Actually, I like the instrument panel in the center, and the extra storage areas are really a nice touch. Average 30 overall with an automatic and heavy foot!...read morehide
