I originally got a Black Sand Pearl Yaris (2008-our first new car in 17 years) which I nicknamed "The Pearl" - had lots of fun in it & I never worried about being stuck on the side of the road somewhere broken down - Toyotas are ALWAYS reliable. We were driving past our dealership (Schaumburg Toyota) one evening about a year later, and my husband saw the new 2009 Yaris in YELLOW (my favorite color) and 30 mins. later we drove out in it! We had traded in The Pearl and received MORE than what we owed (obvious EXCELLENT trade-in value!) and our payment only went up $6.00 for a whole year newer car!! I can't imagine driving anything else now - it's a member of our family! :):) I have gotten close to 40/mpg on the highway as well, and just driving back & forth to work, I get 32/mpg, and that really counts these days. Smooth ride, very quiet, but the fun factor is the best....read morehide

I recently bought a new '09 Yaris from Toyota. After looking at it, I knew it was the car for me! The car was nice and compact and fit me perfectly! The interior of the car feels larger to me than my last car, which was a 4 door car. I said that my con was there was no cruise control, but my car just did not have it, but it is available as an option to install it and I might eventually add it on. Also it has a very small trunk so not alot of space to put items in there, but it does have a cover over the trunk, so people can't see what's in the trunk when it's closed. I was suprised that the speedometer was in the middle of the console and not where is normally is, but it kinda looks more better where it is now and easier to look at than looking thru the steering wheel to see sometimes. I love all the extra compartments it has: a small door near where the hood pop switch is, one where the speedometer used to be, your standard glove box and one above the glove box. Love the amount of Cup holders it has: 1 on each side of the Dashboard, 1 each on the side of the Doors, 2 in the back seat, and 1 in the center console for a total of 7 in my car! I espically like the fact that the CD player in the car can take MP3 CD's! This was a bonus for me, as i never keep regular CD's in my car and will save me money to burn MP3 ones with lots of songs on it. Also glad my car has a AUX switch so i can plug in a MP3 player to listen to music that way as well. I find the convience that everything in the front half of the car is in the center now: speedometer, CD/Radio, AC controls. Makes it more easy to access. Like that I now have Manual controls: Manual Windows, Locks, Manual Seat Belts. My old car had Auto of all those and it was a pain sometimes. The back seat is suprisingly roomy for it being a 3 door car! Easy to retract the seats to get in and out, and the back seat can recline back a little. Overall it is a very wonderful car to have and I would highly reccomend it to anyone that likes compact cars! Hope this review helps you!...read morehide

The center mounted instrument panel does take some getting used to. The electronic steering is smooth and responsive. With power window, locks and AC you would expect cruise control to be installed. After 20 years of GM products I wonder why I waited so long. This car looks much better from the drivers seat than it does in the driveway....read morehide

Love the car so far. Only 7,500 miles so a little early to give an honest accessment. I live in a hilly winding road area and this car is great on gas and handling. Lot of storage for small car, fairly comfortable. I got mine as stripped down version, no radio, manual windows...really basic. It still came with a speaker system so it was ready to install a less expensive audio system than what comes with the Yaris, and came with air which I've only needed once but it worked great. By buying the stripped down version I got the car for $11,000, after including taxes and financing and intrest, after 4 years I will have paid just at $14,000 total for the car. My monthly payments are $255 that fits my budget!! When your driving the Yaris you feel like your in a space capsule. Enough said, I would recommend this car!...read morehide

Doesn't eat tires or gasoline or your wallet. Excellent repair record so far. Sells for more tha n list price, which should tell you something. Figure out what another car will cost you to own for five years, then compare it. Our is worth more than we bought it for new,one and a half years ago.
