I love my Passat. I can get 33 mpg on the Hwy and yet still have tons of power/pickup. In fact, it has enough power to whip my head back if I hit the gas. It very quiet inside even if I am driving 80+. Very smooth ride and great handling. The seats are ultra comfortable. I looked at a lot of cars below $30k, and I just don't think any compare to this one under that price point. The only minor con is that the radio and speaker system is just OK to below average, but I can always purchase a better system. Also, the center console/dash needs to be upgraded more. The dials on the radio and AC as well as the little sliding drawers feel cheap.
Overall, these are all very minor and I think I like the Passat more than any car I have ever driven over the last 23 years.
