Very comfortable, good gas mileage, stable on the road, power when it's needed. Purchased this after owning 3 GM wagons - best of them all.

To be fair, the car has run fine. Engine reliable. However, certain petty flaws have ruined my ownership experience. For example, the antenna mount decayed and fell off the car causing the "great monsoon" radio systen to stop working. The amber blinker lights on the front of the car are held to the body of the car by a spring beneath the hood. That spring has broken and my lights have fallen off the car on three occasions. The guy at the parts counter said "oh yeah, that happens all the time." Yet Volkswagen charges $65 each time it happens. All kinds of electrical issues. Never again....read morehide

I am writing about my 7 year experience with Passat. Although it is not the recent model, but may help. I had 2002 Wagon. It has a good acceleration and pretty good gas millage. However, it had a lot of recalls plus a lot of issues. In a month, I noticed a leak from the sunroof after rain. In 5 months, its "engine check" lamp turned on. When I took it to the service, they suggested that I fuel regular grade for a while. But I figured it had an ignition recall. IN 1.5 years, glove box could not be closed. Despite this dangerous condition, one dealer told me it was not covered by warranty. Tehy try to charge me $400. So I went another dealer and have it fixed under warranty. In 2 years staring wheel got squeaky noise. I had to go back and forth the service. Those were covered by 48 month warranty. Rear washer fluid pump failure was not covered and I had to pay $400. After that, there was an transmission oil leak which cost me $700, CV boot torn out $250, Oxygen sensor failure $500, chain tensioner leak $800. There were 3 other recall services. More and more. Go back and forth the service. After 4-year warranty, I had to spend more than expected each year even I drove in moderate manner (I usually got 30mpg which tells how I drove).
As I said it was a fun-to-drive car. It did have a good performance AS LONG AS YOU SPEND $$$ to MAINTAIN the car. I heard a lot of engine issues on my model. That was enough for me, and decided not to drive VW any more....read morehide

I have never bought anything as nice. Its very roomy, i love the built in sun visers in the back, i love the LED lights at night so you can see the buttons in the car. I love how the steering is set up. we like how the emergency break is a button and dont have to worry bout handles,, Our passat is a 2.0 tsi and uses regualer unleaded fuel. which works out great over here in germany. we did get american spec's so i cant wait to take it home to the states....read morehide

I'd never bought a VW before but went with it this time because of proximity to the dealer. It was a great decision. The car handles with more precision than the American cars I was used to and after a day's driving I was liking it a lot. I didn't realize it when I considered buying but a 3yr/36,000 mi. free servicing program is a plus. There are so many extras included in the standard package that I still haven't gotten them all down pat and I have had the car for almost a month. The remote controlled opening and closing of the tailgate is especially nice when it is raining and things need to be loaded. The car is quiet, has spectacular pickup which I didn't expect with a 2.0 engine so I guess turbocharging must work. In all I like the looks, I liked my salesman, I liked the whole experience and now like owning the automobile. Thanks Volkswagen....read morehide

Very nice wagon. A little pricey, but it really has no direct competition in the U.S. market. That said, it handles, rides and looks (IMO) much better than any crossover vehicle out there -with better fuel economy. Too bad americans don't like wagons.... This is a good car which VW could and would make great with more competition pressure from other makes....read morehide

I have had a Passat sedan for years and it was my favorite car of all time! It is the All Motion V6 model. My new wagon is the Komfort model with a 4 cyl 2.0 turbo. Took a little getting used to, but I now love this car quite a bit too. Good handling and turning radius for a wagon! would recommend it for the price to anyone....read morehide

Previously had a 2006 Passat Sedan; they've fixed all the bugs that they had in the first year of the new model. The wagon drives as well if not better than the sedan, and is really practical... luxury feeling without the price.

Looked at tons of wagons and even took some home. After all that I came back to the Passat. I traded my 2003 Passat GLX for a 2008 Passat 2.0 Turbo wagon. I know I would have missed my 03 Passat if I had not bought another one. this car has less bells and whistles but I still love it. Ihave two large dogs and it's great for them....read morehide
