While stationed in Germany we owned 4 BMW's. One was a 1987 3 series and a 1992 5 series. To be old and have very high mileage they only required minimal work. I believe that's when I fell in love with the Beemer. Before we left we wanted to buy newer versions with American specs. So we bought a 2006 3 series. Man that was a fun ride on the autobahn! So sporty and fast! We still have that car. Before we left Germany we bought my 5 series. It was a neat experience to be able to put the car together and work directly with the manufacture. It was also really nice to be able to visit BMW of Munich. It made me realize what care and technology they put into making a BMW. Each car in that plant is custom made! None are prefab and shipped out in bulk. Being able to drive the car on the Autobahn everyday made me love driving my car! There is no way you really know how that car runs and the feel of the road until you have been on that Autobahn. The 5 handled every corner and turn with precision. While providing with a quiet smooth ride. It is very comfortable inside. I like my hard drive and the access to use a thumb drive is great. That way my cd's are never lying around in the car. I also like the IPod feature and the Navigation is great. They have really made big improvements in the Idrive. The gas mileage is awesome! Thought about a Mercedes at one point, but I feel you get more for your money and a better made car. But that's just my opinion! : )...read morehide

I got the 535i (M package) just a week ago. The car is absolutely gorgeous. I've got it through the European Delivery which was a great fun in itself. Now, 8 weeks later, I finally have the car here and enjoy driving it every day. I actually love the i-drive. I've read so many silly things about it, how complicated it is, etc. Anybody smart enough to operate a cell phone or i-pod can operate the i-drive. The learning takes 10 min and once you know how to use it you wonder how any car can be without it. The acceleration is great and if you don't mind burning some gas, the sport button makes the car fly. Brakes, fit, finish are all great. If you thinking about buying don't forget the M package: it makes a great looking car stunning....read morehide

This is a good car. I just did not expect to have to replace the transmision on a $50,000 vehivle at less than 90,000 miles. The BMW dealeship wanted almost $7,000 to replace the transmission!!!!Well, i did NOT go that route. I have to drive about 2,500 miles per month and quickly find out the quality of my cars. Nissan Maxima (347,000 mi), Ford Explorer (200,000), and my recently purchased vehicle...Acura RL (over 25,000 mi already!) I have had no significant problems out those vehicles considering the cost and maintenance....read morehide

I have this car for two years now and I love driving this car. The car is great on MPG and dependable to drive. The only con that I have is small side mirrors and in and out of the car is little tight, but overall great car.

Once I got into the car, it drove great, the comfort features and the
Nav / computer system were very user friendly. However, getting in and out of the car was the difficult part. Seems the front doors are made a bit small with the door frame 6" or more in front of the seat itself. I'm 6' 200# and have no trouble getting in and out of my G35
If the door frame were a bit larger, I would have left with a new 535...read morehide

Great MPG for the twin turbo engine.get around 31 highway and 23 in city. very sexy car. the navi on this car is great. the logic 7 speakers are the best i have heard so far.13 speakers and 2 subwoofers. sound crisp and clear. i drove a tl and not even comparable. drove the E-class which was very smooth and had a very nice interior but it wasn't even close as sporty as the 535i. Bmw well done...read morehide

The posted gas mileage is on the safe side, since I have had mine (7000 miles) I get 37 mpg on highway and 25 mpg around town. I find it is a nice car to drive and is very comfortable.

The car is better on the road than in the lot and it looks great. It is really fun to drive. The harder you push into the corners, the better it feels. I have never had it break loose yet, so I do not know how it will be on slick roads.
Everything fits and works well. The hood, doors and trunk lines are all even . It is solid in every way I would rate it above the Lexus we owned before.
The run flat tires are very stiff and give it some chop at slow speeds on rough roads. It feels like "the wheels hit the road" when going through chuck holes at slow speeds. I do not notice it at highway speeds? We may change the tires to a convential sports tire and see if they are better?
Overall it is the best car that I have owned. I hope time proves me right. Only 5000 miles to date and loving it !...read morehide
