I bought my Aveo5 new in August of 2008. I really like this little car; people have come up to ask what it is. Although the trunk is small, soft luggage makes it roomier. I have managed nearly 40 mpg on a long distance trip, and generally get close to 30 mpg in urban driving. I have automatic with cruise. The Aveo is not loved by critics, but it's really not that bad a little car. If you're looking for something that basically gets you from point A to point B, then the Aveo will be a fine fit for you. The thing about this car is that you NEED to get the cheap-hatchback-base model, no bells or whistles, else you'll feel like you didn't get a deal. Adding all these extras brings the Aveo's price into a range which doesn't make sense for a small car - but if you stick to your guns, like i did, you can get a brand new car for roughly 8,000 - now we're talking value! All i ask from my car is for it to run fine for a few years and not cost much to up keep (basically, no worries) . . . and so far it has delivered. Great choice for Highschool/Collage kids, older folks, singles and couples (Also, keep in mind that the car is cheap so it wont cost much for insurance! I bought this 2005 new and its been a good commuter for me, easy to drive, and good mileage (32-36m/g). I like that I can't lock my keys in as the front driver door can't lock with the inside button.I also like the fact that nothing is powered except steering, no power windows, door locks to fail....read morehide

Overall, this a a good car with decent gas milage. The trunk has alot to be desired but what do you expect from an economy car. The gas milage is somewhat good at about 33 mpg (mostly hwy) but for the size and weight of this car and with its 1.4 L, it should be able to get at least 36 or above avg hwy. One thing I forgot to mention in Pros is that you can get this car without power door locks, windows, seats and mirrors. That means if something breaks down after warranty is out, most people with a decent head on their shoulders can fix most mechanical item without a computer!!! Car has very little get up an go and I think its get up and go must have got up and went. But again, concedering the engine size, I completely understand. Overall, if you are looking for a dependable car with decent gas milage and decent ride, this could win most people over and is very inexpensive considering you can get up to a possible $4500 trade in allowance for your clunker of a vehicle.
