Have '09 two door, very cheaply built car. upper door rubber held by plastic clips no glue, rear head liner hangs down, sharp edges, no trim on it. Had right head light replaced due to moisture inside, ninety eight percent of interior is plastic, doors have tendency to sag. Should have kept the name Cavalier, so people like me would stay away....read morehide

I had mine for over 4 years and my lease is up. I had the one with Manual tranny basic model 2005. Yes the look of this car is better then any car for same value.
Bumper had large gap under left headlight but not repairable. This is the way some of those bumpers were cut. NOT REPAIRABLE.
20.000km replaced Stereo since CD display say "Locked"
30.000km Brake Light would come on randomly while driving for 30sec, NO Fix since I could not proof to dealer.
50.000km replaced steering shaft since my power steering failed when I was making left turn.
60.000km had problems with noise in steering components or suspension when driving in to parking lots. noise like my steering shaft or tie Rod ends were loose.
Since brand new had lost of dashboard noise. but I did not care since I had 2000WAT sound system.
Its a good car but I think something needs to be redone with steering components. engine and tranny very good and reliable but rest of the car is not.
I would not buy again....read morehide

I loved my cobalt. 2006 chevy right off the lot. I had no problems up until now. 2009 70,000 miles later. i have had to replace the thermostat, thermostat sensor and the electric power steering columnn which seemed to be a common problem with this model. It isn't just a pump either, you have to replace the whole column which goes about $500-$600 labor included. I got a used one at the junk yard for $300 and it works fine now. It goes from state to state and i have o problems with it. Keeping up with the regular maintenance can be tideous but it keeps going and going and going. Not very comfortable, but it looks good. I will never buy a chevy again. Foreign cars only!...read morehide

I deliver new motorhomes around the country and use this vehical as a tow car for return trips. It is an '08 Sport and has over 50,000 miles.Always get over 30 mpg. Oil changes are easy (I use Mobile I).The steering column was replaced at around 30,00 mi. under warrenty. Also had to replace both front wheel hubs (wheel bearings) also under warrenty. This is a real fun car to drive .. much more car than I expected when I bought it. The sport trim is a rare model that is the same as the SS but with a 2.4 naturely asperated engine...read morehide

Bought it new in 2006. Stickshift version gets me 42 mpg if I do 53-55 mph on flat highway with cruise on. Bought it with leather heated seats and roof and great factory stereo. SO far just oil changes..heated seats are great in the winter. The factory contis' lasted 40,000 on the front and 60,000 on the rear. This is a supurb value and if outfitted correctly can make any trip very very bearable. If you have to dress to impress perhaps this is not your ticket, and it certainly doen't garner any admiration from the tree hugger mafia BUT_ This is a G R E A T Value. After 65,000 car still feels tight and has been a joy to operate in terms of $$$ outlays. The oil filters are available at Walmarts for about $5.00 and the crankcase takes 5 full quarts with the filter being external. ( You can do the oil changes for about $11.00 in your garage)... Splurge on the goodies - They work well and flawlessly.. the roof really makes this a fun ride when the sun is not at midheaven, and so far no leaks or rattles from it. I had to literally pull the dealers head to outfit the car the way I wanted it.. It too bad but Chevy dealers really don't care to sell these cars - they view them as disposables for the unwashed who can't buy 70,000 dollar Tahoes. I'll say it again - GM is making good product - their marketing dept just does not know what its doing....read morehide

i have a 2005 with 73,000 miles on it. most have been lucky with this car because i just had my first brake job. there is a rattle coming from the front end but no one can figure out what it is. i hate the trunk cant get anything in it but groceries or flat boxes. also when it gets windy out the car is all over the road so hang on tight to the steering.the only thing i have had to do to the car is change oil reguliarly, tires and wash it. now if someone can figure out what that rattle is that would be great. but i hear this is a problem with alot of the cobalts.......read morehide

At 40,000 miles the power steering assist motor went out on my car. GM doesnt make the motor seperately, you have to replace the entire steering column....$850.00!! I done some research on the web and found out that this is a common problem with this vehicle. When I contacted GM about it, they said it was considered "normal wear and tear" and refused to help cover the cost!! This has left a bad taste in my mouth! I will never buy another GM car!!...read morehide
