My wife purchased a 2003 Ford Ranger 4x4 with extended cab. This truck is All Truck. Being somewhat smaller then me she fits into it much better. It does everything you ask a truck to do. Towing and hauling has never been a problem. It has a good V6 4.0, the newer 3.0 is stronger with better fuel milage and unavailable. When this truck was designed (along time ago) it probably was top notch. But Ford should have put more improvements into it. I wish the seat was lower or the roof was higher. I wish it had rear coil springs. And I wish I could turn a corner with the 4 wheel drive engaged on dry roads. But what it does go well-it does very well. Snow is never a problem-starting or stopping. It fits in the garage. It can get up to 18 mpg. Except for a few recalls, we have never had problems. With such a good start you have to wonder why Ford didn't try to improve the Ranger rather than discontinue it. It's not like small trucks don't sell.
