We recently went on a vacation to visit my folks, and my mom owns a base model 2005 Element. We drove it the whole time we were there, and within a week my wife and I were asking each other "Why don't we own this car?" We have a 2 year old, and the ease of getting her, and all of her stuff in and out of this vehicle amazed us. When we got back home, we went to a local Honda dealer, and they had the exact unit we had configured on line...even down to the color. We live in the Midwest, so AWD was a must for winter. We added some options like side steps, roof rack, splash guards, kick panel guards, all weather floor and trunk mats, and fog lamps. It really made our little Element look kinda tuff, and we were very pleased. Now for the meat and potato's: The doors opening the way they do really helps getting our daughter in and out of the Element. The vinyl floor and mats make spills easy to clean. The LATCH system secures her seat, so we feel confident that she is safe and secure, and the vehicle scored GOOD in all of the major catagories of the IIHS crash tests...a big plus. The engine has more than enough power to get up to speed in busy traffic, and even with the shape of the vehicle not being the most aerodynamic, we are still getting an average of 23 MPG combined. The vehicle shifts and drives wonderfully, and even though it has a rather short wheelbase, the ride is really pretty comfortable. There is more than enough room for all the stuff you may buy at a trip to Sam's or the grocery store in the back, and the fold up seats will allow for even more room to load larger items. In a nutshell...it is very versatile. However, the vehicle only seats 4 people...so if you have a larger family, this is not the SUV for you. But for us, as we have no plans to expand our family...it is perfect. With all of this you also get Honda's build quality and reliablity, safety, and piece of mind that you should get exceptional service from your Element for years to come. We could not be happier with ours, and I would recommend this vehicle to anyone with a small family, who wants a non traditional SUV....read morehide

So far I love my element, seems to be a sound investment, great sound system with free XM. Seats sit nicely and ride is smooth on the highway, nice and quiet inside for a vehicle with no carpet, seats fold up and leave massive cargo area.

I can't say enough good things about the Element...I've had mine since 2003 - and as a faux finisher, I can boost that I have had just about everything in this car from a sofa, or a dresser to 6 ft ladder.
I've also driven several times from Houston to Virginia without any discomfort. Passengers are amazed at the room inside, and there is always the bystander who wants to "see inside"....
Ya gotta love it
