After 56,450 miles on my 2008 Prius that I purchased on 30 July 2008, I can say this is one great vehicle. Ride and handling is great at any speed. Most of my driving is Highway with trips of 350 to 2500 miles. At speeds of 75 mph I average between 42.8 and 43. 6 mpg. The highest ever obtained is 48.6 after a 2,642 mile trip and all highway. The car has plenty of seating room with plenty of storage in the trunk area or under the trunk floor. I find this hiding place is great for items I want out of sight. I have been in wind and rain where handling has been NO problem. I haven't driven in snow but I don't plan too. Tires were replaced at 45,600 miles with oversize 205 from the 195 which hasn't changed a thing. Driving in Texas is hot in the summer, but the Prius A/C must be praised. It is the fastes cooling car available. All opitons have worked with NO problem and there has been NO problems with this car. It's great and what more could I say?
Now the drivers seat I wished was Power seat, so I could change positions on long drives. I do suggest this be done in the future. I do suggest that the mirrors have signals installed in them, Keep up to date and make is safer for the drivers....read morehide

Have driven over 112000 miles and very little to complain about. Best car I have ever owned without a doubt. Will start-up and run regardless of -10 of 110 F degrees. Extremely good handling on ice - fairly good handling in snow. I live in the Appalachian hills and rarely have an issue driving in snow and ice. The only time it has trouble in the snow is if it is deep - but then adding snow chains takes care of that. I wish the car would allow you to turn off the traction control at times but that is not an option. The electric motor is extremely good at keeping the car holding onto slippery surfaces. Feels like a zamboni on an ice rink! **Do change the original tires to a good high traction brand. ie Michelin or equivalent.
Ride is very comfortable and sturdy. The car is midsize and very roomy even with 4 large sized adults. Does not get pushed around by semis and giant SUV's. The electric motor pulls hills with no loss of speed no matter how steep. In the hills I average around 45 mpg - less steep areas about 48 mpg. For the first 100000 miles I have not had to do anything except change wiper blades once, tires once, most light bulbs once and regular oil change every 5000 miles. Battery is no issue at all you don't even have to think about it. Original brake pads still at 70%. The electric (B) motor brake works great on steep downhill roads.
Storage is amazing - the hatch opens up to abundant amount of room. Many extra storage compartments too.
Acceleration is fine - not as quick as a v8 but about the same as most 4 or 6 cyl cars on the road. Cruise control is excellent and easy to use....read morehide

The Prius is not the easiest car to purchase, but it?s well worth the effort to get one.
My 2010 Prius III consistently gets 53-55 mpg, which is better than the EPA estimate.
Instrument panel on center of dashboard is nice because you do not need to look down and through the steering wheel to see any gauges.
The car is very roomy, with more than enough legroom, headroom and width. I find the ride smooth and quiet, as the car weighs in at 3000 pounds, which gives it the feel of a mid-sized vehicle.
Disc breaks stop well, and the car has plenty of acceleration when you need to merge on a freeway, for example.
Bluetooth on steering wheel is convenient; excellent sound system as well.
Based on my experience with the car so far, the Prius is amazing--probably the most advanced production vehicle on the market....read morehide

This car drives more like a normal car then the previous models. Ride is quiet and comfortable. I enjoy driving the car, which is most important. I am constantly stunned by the mileage.

I just purchased the Prius 2010 model. It is much better than the 09 model my mom has. Its a fun car to drive and it gets great gas mileage both in the city and highway. I owned a Toyota Corrolla and Rav 4 but they can't beat the gas mileage I get now. It's very refreshing as gas prices go up and down within a couple hours that I don't feel like I am being robbed at the pump each time I fill my tank.
It is very nice to only have to stop at the gas pumps once every seven days. Thank you Toyota for caring about your customers and making products that will last long after you finish making car payments on them. I have found Toyota has the best customer care and the most helpful sales people in the industry. They go the "extra mile". The dealership I have dealt with all three times keep getting better and better. I feel comforted knowing Toyota will back up whatever it sells....read morehide

Good fuel Economy. However the cost is too high. Dealers are not giving a bit and they don't care whether you are serious buyer or not. they have fixed price and you cannot expect any "deal" on the car. Buying experience is poor due to high demand and sales people are not ready to look for you even. If you drive a lot (@ 40 miles / day ) its cost is justified else Toyota corolla or yaris is a better option.
Another cons. is poor power. As it is hybrid, you cannot expect to race with any V-6 or V-4 car also.
The only thing good for this car is high MPG.
I purchased this car only because my wife wanted. Cost wise this car is not justified if you are not driving much.......................read morehide

Getting over 50 mpg. Great looking. Rattles like a cheap car. Returned to dealer 5 times for same rattles. Dealer can not correct. Called Toyota and was told it was normal. Look at the Honda Insight instead.

Drove 750 miles to Houston on $24 worth of gas. Average gas mileage is 52 mpg combined city & hwy. Good acceleration with the power mode.
One complaint is the center console rattles. The nav system also needs to allow passenger to operate information. Cannot seem to get information about "points of interest" along route (hotels, dining, etc.) only in immediate area.
Very comfortable on long or short drives....read morehide

We LOVE our Prius. Don't even need to talk about mileage everyone knows that. We have taken it on many trips, through mountains, and not one problem. Yes, it goes up hills just fine, don't let anyone tell you it doesn't. And it is fine in the rain, no sliding. Braking is EXCELLENT in this car. I wouldn't be dumb enough to drive it in deep snow, that is what I have a 4-wheel drive vehicle for. It was well worth the price. It is hands down the best car I have ever owned....read morehide
