Overall a good car for its class. Lots of room inside, however the gauges in the middle of the dash take some getting used to, especially at night. There are numerous air bags and very good safety rating which makes me feel a little better in case of a crash.

This overpriced piece of garbage is the worst car ever. Besides getting good gas milage, it sucks. I've taken it to the dealer about six times. Fuel problems, electronics blow outs and even worse the fricking battery already took a dump after only a few months. The auto park didn't work and I almost slammed into someone when the pulled in front of me because the detection system didn't work. What the hell!!
On another note, the service reps were complete morons that didn't even know what the problems were untill a week later. And they gave me a Yaris to haul my kids around.
I paid almost 30 grand to "save the earth," but it put the biggest pain in my neck! BIGGEST mistake I've ever made.
Do not buy this car unless you like frequent trips to the dealer or wrecks. Wait till the bugs are worked out....read morehide

Purchased new in March, 2008. Best mileage was 47.5, worst was 39.0. Manual transmission, sunroof, PW, PL all for under $15,000, $14,995.00 to be exact -tax included. First thing I did was change the oil to Castrol Syntek (synthetic oil gets better mileage). The center dash is actually good for me, as I can readily see the turn signals in my peripheral vision. I'm 62 and leaving the signals on is epedemic with us geezers. I haul four and five people comfortably all the time. They like the completely flat floor in the back. No problems as yet, love it. Never thought I would be happy when I sold my Suburu, live and learn!...read morehide

I purchased my Yaris in August, and am absolutely satisfied. While the interior is a bit "plain jane" and the trunk has had a few sticky moments, the performance and value have made this car a champion in my mind. This vehicle is mostly used in city driving situations and has consistently averaged 36 miles per gallon. It is responsive and easy to manuver in tight situations. For a small car, it has exceptional roominess. It was the only one on the lot and I am glad I got it!...read morehide

This is a car for leaders. Not followers. I've had my car 6 months now and have absoutely no complaints. I've heard the negatives:
First - low on power/speed but this reduces my risk of causing or getting into an accident and saves gas/money.
Next - its small; I'm 5'10" and find this car very comfortable. I thought I'd be cramped and that my knees would hurt on long trips but had none of this so far. My 5'1" friend easily crosses her legs in the front seat.
Third; I'm glad I don't have to look through the steering wheel to view the speedometer, you get used to this easily. One glance at the centrally positioned meters and you get it. With the traditional placement, your eyes are off the road too long as you fight to get a reading through a moving steering wheel.
Fourth there's a lot of talk about noise, but I haven't noticed it. My radio is usually turned to a level of 3 or 4 and I hear my programmes perfectly.
I work 5km (4 miles) from my home and in the most extreme cases, I can drive a Full Month (300km/ 190 miles) before refilling my gas tank. I spend an average of $18/month on gas. This may vary depending on where you live.
My friends are amazed by the quick response of the braking system. (This can be tightened or slackened to the driver's liking)
I'm thrilled at the many sticky situations I got out of because of the small turning radius of this car.
This is my first car. I researched for a year before buying this car and I have NO regrets. None. I'm glad I made this decision and recommend this car to those looking for economical milage, comfort and safety above all else....read morehide

I purchased my '07 Liftback from Toyota of Waldorf in Maryland in '07 used with 20k. I have had zero problems with the car so far, and I'm at 51k, and average 40 mpg. I have added full coilover suspension, a TRD rear sway bar, AFE intake, and aftermarket rims and tires. Also installed a Pioneer HU and Sirus radio. The car handles like a 30k plus car now with the modified suspension, and the aftermarket totally supports this car, so my cheap daily driver is now a FUN drive to work and back, and I actually drive the Yaris more than my other 3 cars because I seem to enjoy the handling , although it could use a bit more power in a straight line, it still brings a smile to my face!!!...read morehide

The Toyota Yaris is a perfect example of a car designed to tranport u from A to B. It's dependable, but it's sooooo BORING.
The main problem with this car is SAFETY: my car recently crashed and the airbags didn't go on even though the air bag sensors were activated. The person who was driving it could have get killed if the accident had been more serious. The dealer ignored this "problem", they just fixed the car, they didn't even offer any apologies. Besides that, the car has virtually no electronic assistents and that- in addition to cheap brakes- translates into long braking distances, exhaustion of the brakes after only a few miles of driving. If you have a car like this please don't drive in rain as the car is uncapable of handlig on any less than perfect terrain.
Consumption is mediocre, i'm getting about 20mpgs in city driving. That's less than almost any other competitor. The ride is smooth but at the cost of performance. The transmission is jerky and unresponsive, the steering too light (nervous in fact).
The interior plastics feel like that of an 8000 USD car. The equimpment is poor.
Service is- as usual in Toyota- excelent....read morehide

Is it a wagon? An SUV? A Compact? I just bought the Scion xB - 31/35 mpg, a very nice interior & standard sound system by Pioneer. Don't let the outside appearance fool you - this car has TONS of interior space (the headroom of a tractor/trailer) and is very comfortable, plus it handles well. I didn't go for the neon lighting, but even without, I get lots of looks, smiles, and questions. Available colors are also nice. Technology is based upon the Toyota Echo, so even though this is a first year model, the technology is well-founded, and the warranty is good (60K miles). My favorite feature is that you sit higher than in most cars with this fuel efficiency, so the gas-guzzling SUV in front of you doesn't obstruct your view as much....read morehide

I bought the car on April 11, 2009 at Beaman Toyota here in Nashville, TN. My car included the All Weather Guard Package, Remote Keyless Entry System, Power Package with 15-in wheels, and Yaris Carpeted Floor Mats/Cargo Mat. I love driving my car more everyday. It zips great in traffic. One might not think a small car like the Yaris is strong and safe, but I got hit in the back by a semi truck just over a month ago on 65 North and there was just damage to the bumper and trunk lid. Beaman Toyota had it fixed up like new again in no time at all. The best thing about the car is that it is a Toyota. It will last forever. It will be running long after other cars fall apart....read morehide
