After test driving the Mini and various BMW models, we didn't like the prices for well optioned models so we came back to Volvo (traded in a V70). Bought the American Spec 2.4i 5 sp manual in Kaiserslautern. After reading American reviews stating the 2.4I is underpowered, I think the engine and transmission are better suited for German roads and highways rather then 0-60 sprints. Power comes on approx 3800 rpm and is quite lively through 6000 rpm, rowing the gearshift (light clutch) makes for an entertaining ride. With a 1000 miles the car is averaging 26 mpg (30% City and 70% highway).
The Stereo, Bluetooth and USB port for my MP3 player works well. Leather seats are comfortable and we find long commutes effortless. Very happy with our new car....read morehide
