I hope this review helps anyone in the market for an SUV. I typically don’t write reviews, but I felt I should to help inform other buyers. In October of 2010 we began our search to replace our 03 Odyssey. We needed a third row so we looked at various models including SUV's from Toyota, Nissan, GM, and Buick with a budget of around $50k. Acura's interior finishes really beat the competition hands down and offered third row seating, so when offered an awesome out the door price on the new 2011 with tech/ent. package, we bought. Although this is my wife’s vehicle, I quickly realized that the extra money we spent on this "luxury" SUV was for naught. After 9 months of ownership, and 6000 miles, here are my issues: Leather driver seat is already showing signs of wear. My wife drives this car and weighs 125#... Maybe we would at 30k miles, but at 6k miles we shouldn't see folds and creases already in the leather! My biggest complaint by far is the GPS. Acura has the worst GPS on the market. Don't bother trying to find something by name, you must enter an exact address, otherwise it pulls up something similar to what you are looking for, but it will be 1500 miles away! I can speak into my $300 cell phone and it can pull up any location/restaurant I am looking for and provide directions in 5 seconds, but my $45k vehicle can't. Come on Acura…work with Google or someone to create a real GPS for your buyers. My next problem is the outside noise. This vehicle is actually louder than the 03 van we traded in. I used to drive a 2008 TL Type S, and it was so quiet. I realize this is a much bigger vehicle, but I had expected a relatively quiet interior. Don't think about using the Bluetooth to make calls because it is very difficult to hear if on the other end of the call..again, this was not an issue on my TL. My next complaint is the back up camera/light. During the day, it is great, but at night it is completely dark and unusable. Dealer says it's a complaint they hear a lot but there is nothing they can do. My final issue is the rattling on acceleration. Dealer says it is a "gas" issue, but it is present even when running highest octane gas. To me it sounds mechanical and is louder when turning right (maybe power steering issue??)…. The dealer basically washed their hands on this one. On the positive side, the interior control layout is good. Sound system is also nice and the kids enjoy the rear entertainment. Handling is excellent especially in the rain/snow. We wanted the luxury and the third row seating, but Acura falls way short with the MDX. Acura needs to invest in this vehicle as right now I would imagine it is on par with the Kia or Hyundai, just $15k more. On the next go around we will be spending a little more and going with the Lexus or BMW.
