Purchased As Used
I bought the tech package MDX (07 model) i dont like the latest models. I bought mine CPO. its a great car never lets me down and all who sit in it are amazed at the leg space the useful features and the safety it offers.
i know there are others who havent liked this vehicle each to their own i guess. But the fact is when comparing Gas mileage show me one 7 seat or 8 seater that will give you 30 mpg or more even the puny mazda 5 gives u 26 to 27.
first useful features: its an AWd so the gas mileage will be lesser but u get a lot more safety and infact while turning a high speeds the stability and awd combine to give you a sure footed turn, whether its raining or snowing you will get excellent traction. the seats are so comfortable u will thank yourselves for buying this car.
its a luxury vehicle without the luxury cost of maintainence trust me coming from an ex- Audi owner i know this ..
the tech package allows you to simply say turn ac on and voila the ac is on you can even say temperature 78 and it will do it, turn radio on , navigation on, and to those who said the gps is horrible FYI its the best Navigation system that has been consistenly voted by the experts and users like us. try dabbling the audi or bmw navigation u will know what i mean.
the phone book of my bb torch gets sycned perfectly and i can call anyone in my list or others by just saying their name or number and it will dial it for you it will pause the music while u talk.
there is anough space for a family of 4, the car is solidly built tested in nuremburg germany (test track famous for its grueling character in trying conditions)
now comes the cons
the only gripe ive had is that it doesnt have solid front bumper so i have installed a bull bar (brush guard chrome) for added protection. and side step bars or nerf bars for easy access to child seat(if you have a toddler infant).
ive taken this vehicle to yellowstone park from Los angeles and back no issues whatsoever, it has more than sufficient power (250 nm torqueaprox)
as enough ground clearance around 8.3 inches which can make this vehicle go on light off road (no rock hopping ) subaru outback has 8.7 inches so its not that its a major difference plus this is acura the epitome of reliability and safety.
if you are looking for a safe vehicle which gives decent mileage on hwys i get around 24 to 25 using premium shell gasoline. and in city i get around 19mpg.
for me safety is more imp for me an my folks and as a family vehicle i will not trade this for anything. i had contemplated ford flex and traverse but they could match for anything in terms of safety prestige reliability interiors sound system tech features i do give them their due they have slighly better mpg but for that minivan look of traverse and box shape of flex my futuristic mdx won me towards the acura.
for all those who just want a family hauler with not much excitement to drive go for ford flex or traverse.
MDX won the cmparison test with q5 bmw x5 so go figure according to motortrend
