THe car is an absolute beast. It handle long road trips with the greatest of ease. Acceleration is quite smooth. Ride is not as harsh as the RDX. Handling is less crisp (more than adequate) than the RDX but it is a much larger car.
Quick accelerations are not this car's forte.
Sound system is superior.
Handles city traffic well.
Very roomy.

Uses the most expensive gas 91-93 octane and gets very poor mileage... Will not buy again. The numbers lie about fuel economy on the sticker. Stay away... wish I did.

Bought this MDX two months ago, replacing a 2005 Tahoe. Drove many different crossovers, and the MDX won going away. I really liked the Audi Q7, but would have had to wait till the end of the year to get the color I wanted.

Got the burnt umber interior, and it is super sharp. Fit and finish is superb, with no squeaks or rattles. Added a hood bug deflector and trailer hitch. Pulls our 4,000 pound boat like a champ.

Although the manual calls for 91 octane gas, I have used 89 exclusively with no problems (my salesman told me that is all he uses in his 3 Acuras!). Love the USB connection: I have a dedicated iPod that is used strictly for music. Still learning all the tech features for this car, but overall, I LOVE IT!!!!...read morehide

The awd system is awesome for on road use. Plenty of power from the V6 with OK gas mileage considering the weight of the vehicle. The navigation / sound system is more than adequate. There are plenty of convenience features. If you don't read the rather long owner's manual you might miss some.

Fit and finish is sub par. Dash has large uneven gaps on ends. RR door never looks like it's closed. Interior rattles on rough roads. Nav system and battery had to be replaced already....read morehide

Bought new 2012 with Advance Package for wife. Love the overall fit and finish. The ride is extremely nice. Considered a Cadillac SRX, but for the money, this car with its 3rd row seat and all wheel drive for about the same money was no contest. Yes fuel economy isn't as good as I would like, but it has all wheel drive - this feature is worth the sacrifice. One other small complaint. Many of the SUVs in this price range have the larger sunroof. The MDX does not. The Navigation system is one of the best I've seen....read morehide

So far the MDX has been a great car to have. We replaced our 2001 Toyota Sequoia because we now have a truck to do the towing and we're keeping the Sequoia for other dirty work as well. The Acura offers enough space for four and a dog or two in the back. Adaptive Cruise Control works wonders, great stereo, rides well and the seats are extremely comfortable (Cooled seats are perfect in Florida).

Complaints? Fake wood just bothers me. It does an okay of mimicking the real thing but you can still tell, especially when you feel it (hollow). I would've thought that Acura would offer the real thing with the Advance pkg like they do with the RL but nope. As with almost every new car, voice command takes some getting used to. And I'm sure I'm not using the technology packed car to its full potential yet. Once I get used to the tech, this will be a fantastic daily driver for almost everything I throw at it.

Oh yea, and skip the running boards. Completely pointless in a car this low and strictly meant for show. They actually make getting in/out more of inconvenient.

Experience and friends tell me that Acura is a brand I can trust. Honda does a fantastic job of building cars that last. Looking forward to the next 10+ years with this one....read morehide

We drove Lexus, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche and for the money... The MDX beat them all. There is a "well madeness" about it all, many nice interior touches and a real joy to drive. First trip was 2,000 mi to Palm Springs and it was first cabin the whole way. The ML350 was a snoozer, the RX350 same, Cayenne WAY overpriced for what you get, and the BMW was agricultural. Great interior and comfort and trim. Some of the a/c, radio switchgear could be simpler, including the hands free voice recognition which was wrong about half the time. Excellent iPod and USB integration for music & phone. There is a reason this was ranked by US&WR as the #1 SUV for the last couple of years... We looked and test drove the ML, JX35, GL450. Gl450 was too expensive for what you get and reliability was a concern. ML was OK, but again price vs value wasn't very good. JX35 was a wonderful car, great technology, decent ride, however, drives and look like a mini-van.. If you are 6ft and over, the only way you'll get comfortable in the second row seat is to lay flat! Seats are way to close to the floor. If you have a very young family, this is probably a good choice. If not, I'd take a pass, which we did. Chose the MDX. Drives great with decent pick up and mpg. Nice fit and finish, but lacking in some basics that you would expect in a luxury suv. All up, not a winner in every category, but MDX is a very good choice....read morehide
