2008 Acura RL User Reviews

- Tons of features for the money. Exceptional build quality. Great interior.
- Somewhat slow off the line.
Great car. Voice recognition, bluetooth, navigation, etc. work great and are very intuitive. Previously owned 5 series and loved the car but too many problems. Comparably equiped 5 series approaches $60k while the RL can be purchased well below sticker. Not quite as much fun to drive as the 5 but will respond if pushed and AWD kicks in. Also considered Infiniti M35 but comparable model was thousands more and interior quality was inferior....read morehide

- styling is at the point of perfection, strong reliability and resale
- 50k+ that is putting in a class with a lot of other sedans with a more refined ride and v8 power
FIT AND FINISH IS REALLY TOP OF THE LINE, NICE FEATURES AND AS ALWAYS RELIABILITY IS EXPECTED TO BE HIGH. JAPAN REALLY NEEDS TO BE CAREFUL WHEN CROSSING INTO OTHER PRICE SEGMENTS OF THE MARKET. BELIEVE IT OR NOT THERE ARE AMERICAN AND GERMAN CARS THAT ARE EQUAL IN ALL AREAS WITH THE SAME PRICE POINT....read morehide

- Quiet Good high speed torque
- Lousy off the line. Feels heavy on corners
I dont know what Acura did but the body resists dings! The voice control and other electronic bells and whistles are worthless. Too complex. The NAV system has real time traffic but tends to take you in round about ways to your destination. Trunk is huge. Sound system is fair. Would seriously consider the Infiniti....read morehide

- everything works flawlessly, quite (realy quite), on a trip to LA and back we averaged 27.7/80 MPH
- passenger seat is not 8 way, that's it.
Wife purchase the vehicle in 2006, traded a TL, we have the tech pacakage and I enjoy all the features of the vehicle, stero is the best I have listened compared other luxury vehicles we have owened, at speed the vehicle is quite / smooth / quick, my wife especially enjoyes the accident avoidence system of which she has experenced it several time living in the bay area of ca., I like it because everyone here either has a Merc / BMW / Lexus and they realy place a high standard on what they pull up in with there noses your know where, i like that it is a very strong vehicle (read the build list), last but not least the vehicle stands on it own platform, something people truly do not understand, but another when it has that beautiful V8 that Acura has and no one knows about....read morehide

- features, value, realiability
- Could use a little more legroom
All by itself for features and value. Best sedan in its category for those of us unaffected by status materialism. Total cost of ownership is untouched. Service is great. Runs great on Regular gas & even gets better mpg. Lots of critics, however, they are typically unrealistic consumers who really want a possession rather than a vehicle to get them around at a fair value proposition. Probably a great used car value considering the market does not appreciate the model and Acura does not have the cache sought by the affluent yuppie of today. Save your $$ for something else and buy the RL....read morehide

- All-Wheel Drive, Great Seats, Nice Lines, Great Value v. Other Premium Brands
- Fuel Economy, Paddle Shifters, Trunk Space, Windshield Fluid Reservoir
As I live in snow country on a hill, my primary objective in purchasing a new vehicle was AWD and reliability. The RL provides Honda reliability with premium features at a great price. When I say great price, I am comparing the vehicle to the AWDs offered by BMW / Audi / Benz. Many will rule out the RL as it does not have the snob appeal of other brands, however the reliability and value of the RL is far superior. The RL will appeal to the smart buyer who DOESN'T NEED to be identified with what they drive. That being said, I purchased the vehicle after the factory offered a $5K rebate, probably would have bought something else, maybe a Subaru, without the rebate. I'll quickly tell you what I don't like about the vehicle. 1. The paddle shifters on the steering wheel are useless and will never be used by ANYONE - Acura, delete them and drop the price or add another feature. 2. The windshield washer fluid reservoir only holds .5 gallons which goes pretty fast in bad weather...strange. 3. The vehicle comes with 2 keyless remotes, thought I lost one and called the dealer to order a replacement - the cost was in the mid $400's...for a remote! I pity the day a remote is lost or stops working! 4. Could use about 1-2 more inches of leg room in the back seat. 5. The trunk is abysmally small, forget a trip to the airport with baggage. 6. The stereo is not bad, but far from great. I've never been a big fan of Bose car stereos, they are very smooth, but are not loud enough....needs about +20% more volume. My Toyota Avalon had a better (factory) stereo. 6. Finally, the fuel economy is bad, and premium gas is required.....but a stupid complaint as we all know that going in to the purchase. Other than that, I love the car.....and there is a lot to love at a good price (with the rebate!)....read morehide
