2008 Acura TL User Reviews
Type-S 6-Spd MT w/ Performance Tires shown
- $15,348 - $17,686
- Affordable luxury inside and out, Honda reliability, did I mention affordable luxury inside and out?
- Speakers will not last if the very powerful subwoofer is used, limited passenger seat adj, trunk spc
Being on a tight budget these days, it's nice to know I purchased a considerably luxurious car for less than "the German car" price. We all know that handling/suspension put asside, an Acura is as good as it's gonna get when you want the entire package. I absolutely LOVE the "Hands Free Link" feature so you don't have to use an annoying Bluetooth in your ear! It's funny when you're in a drive through window and the guy laughs at the conversation going on in your own car because he can hear it (make sure it's not private of course). Basically, the TL speaks for itself and you won't be able to relate to what all of these Yahoo comments until you see it for yourself. That's what the test drive is for! Good luck and don't be pressured by the dealership guys trying to sell those UGLY '09 TLs ok? You can do it!...read morehide

- Performance, gadgets
- Transmission shifts rough (Acura calls this "Grade Logic") Eats Tires
Very nice car for the price point. Well apportioned and no hagling over options (very few mainstream cars with NAV or No Nav, thats it for options basically) Transmission software is subpar and you'll need a experienced Honda Mechanic to address it, Acura guys are Knowledge Base junkies who cant think outside the 'engine' box. 09 coming with SH-AWD, for the snow driving, rain sliding bunch. Wish I would have waited, but great car anyway...read morehide

- Good looks nice features
- Rough ride, uncomfortable seating position for driver
Bought my TL new but it is the worst mistake I have ever made in a car purchase.
Very disappointed in the overall feel of the car and especially, being a short person, how difficult it is to find a good position for the driver seat especially in relation to the pedals.
Sorry I bought this car and will get rid of it as soon as possible.
This has turned me off completely to Acura. Never again!!...read morehide

- Great performance and handling, excellent Nav and audio system with large screen,
- No automatic tilt steering wheel
Overall the 2008 ACURA TL-S is an excellent performing sports car.
A great value for the price. "Everything" is standard. I looked at other cars, Infiniti, Audi, Lexus, but the ACURA had all I wanted. The ride is sporty but not overly stiff. I especially like the F1 shift paddles. The engine is smooth with enough "punch". Shifting is precise.
IT IS JUST FUN TO DRIVE!!...read morehide

- Unparalleled balance of performance, great looks, value and its still a Honda (awesome quality)
- If you step on it, mileage can be poor, but if careful up to 30 on hwy. Voice control on NAV
I am soooo glad I didnt wait for the 2009, those truly looks ugly and will be alot more!. funny to see the 09 mazda 626 looks like a TL clone in/out. For 36k OTD for TLS with 120k warranty, I am a happy camper, very much so after almost 10k of fun with it. Be careful if you truly step on it. torque steer can scare you!...read morehide

- Handles exceptionally well considering it's a FWD, good acceleration, great steering feedback
- Gas mileage is a little on the iffy side
This is an exceptional car that has truly exceeded my expectations. Great acceleration and handling, even though it's front wheel drive, interior is very well crafted and the car just looks absolutely great. However, people who buy this car expecting a car with a cushy ride should stay far, far away. I used to own a 1997 Accord LX with an aftermarket suspension so the stiff ride doesn't bother me. I've yet to experience the "rattling" some people are complaining about....read morehide

- $2500 under invoice
- Rattle noise comes from everywhere. A Rattle box for $30,000
Big mistake I have made to have this car. It is a Rattle box and makes you crazy. The rattle starts right after one day I got this car. noise comes from every possible locations one after anther: center, back, 3 out of 4 doors, 2 front seats, moonroof ...... Some of thme are fixable and some are not - You never know how many more will come.
The only way is to turn on the radio loudly to mask these rattle noise.
The dealer tried hard to fix the problem and once they happened to say that the TL (after 2004 model) makes a lot of trouble for them (in terms of rattle).
Do not buy this car and do not make mistakes as I did (less money for more cars). I should have spent 3-4K more to get a Lexus or Infinite....read morehide

- Appearance, Sporty performance and economy
- Ride is too rough, rattles rattles and more rattles
I previously owned 2000 RL and a 2005 TL and had excellent sucess. However within 2 weeks of taking ownership of the 2008/WNV on May 25 2008, I found the ride unusually harsh which seem to be shaking the car apart, creating rattles that I have taken back to the dealer numerous times . To the dealers credit (Acura of Brookfield Wi) they are really trying to find and fix the problems. I have had two new loaner TL's of which both had a more satisfactory ride. This could because my automobile came equiped with Michelin Grand Touring All season tires which are very hard. The dealer infomed me that this is a better tire then the Bridgestone Turanza which is a softer riding tire.
My problems have not a fixed satisfactory because as soon as one rattle is fixed another appear else where. For this automible to be one of Acura's best sellers, I am dissappointed that the manufactures quality is so poor. If I wanted a poorly assembled car I could have spent less money and purchaed domestic....read morehide

- it is an acura: reliable, high performance, great looks, fully loaded, good gas mileage
- too nose heavy, wears out front tires very fast, torque steer.
A great car for the money. Very solid and reliable. Also it has
excellent acceleration and handling. But the car is nose heavy and has torque steer. Front wheel drive cars are best with a 4
cylinder engine. I have issue with fast tire wear, every 15k it
needs new tires.
