2007 Audi A3

- Big fun factor in driving it, excellent road feel, crisp steering, good mileage
- a little noisy at highway speed, some ergonomics slightly off for me
This car is a hoot to drive, which is ultimately the most powerful reason why I bought it. I went with the stick, mostly cause I enjoy shifting. Yes I know DSG shifts faster than I ever will. Mixed driving mileage results have been at 28.8 mpg, with about 700 miles so far on the car. Much of my driving is on open roads and with some good twisty secondary roads in the Northern Colorado/Wyoming countryside as I have offices in Boulder and Laramie. I have a 2007 s-line, with sport seats, opensky and other goodies. I rate the seats a good, but not excellent. Thigh support could be a little better but it's comfortable anyway. Seats in my wife's 2003 Saab 9-5 and my old '91 Saab 900s are pretty hard to top. I didn't particularly like the seats in the premium edition.
I bought mine off the lot as the dealer was looking to get rid of one remaining 2007 this fall, and it just happened to be painted and optioned exactly as I wanted (sans xenon's though). It has the Bose sound system, which ordinarily is a very expensive option. The sound is awesome. Worth mentioning that my sales person, Adolf, at Ed Carroll was really quite good. That's a rarity and a pleasure.
Little quirks, which wouldn't stop me from buying again, but why I don't give it five stars: the cruise control stick is really poorly positioned, though you get used to it after a few awkward peeks at what you're doing. You can't actually see the cruise stick or its icons as the steering wheel totally blocks them. The headlights don't turn off when you turn the engine off, which is a no-brainer feature to me, and lets you just leave them on for safer daylight driving. I think there's a feature you can order for that, but it should be standard. Trunk release and gas release are easily mixed up in the dark. CD player (with multi-CD capability) in random mode doesn't change CD's till you play through a bunch on the first CD selected. Every car should have an ipod/mp3 player jack standard, which this car doesn't. Easy fix, but c'mon.
Overall the car is just so much fun to drive. It's a crisp execution on the engine, transmission, suspension and steering. It's a great looking little car too, though the Audi grill design is a tad of a detraction. Value-wise, your paying for the performance. This is not a cheap car or loaded with features that the manufacturer dumps in. You're buying a wicked good sports car, with a back seat and sharp looks. If you're looking for best value, buy used off Craigslist in California, where there seem to be plenty more available....read morehide

- Fun to drive, great gas mileage
- Not quiet on the inside
This is a FANTASTIC car - I love just about everything about it. The only issue is that it's a bit loud on the highway. But, for me, it's the perfect commute car - not really a road car.
Fun to drive and people always comment about how great it looks. I got bright red, so it draws a bit of attention, but all well-deserved as far as I'm concerned.

- Fun car to drive, comfortable cabin, stick shift is great-good handling. Hatchback adds function
- Premium gas $$, no gas cap holder,
I bought this car through an internet deal, I had to shop outside Southern CA to purchase manual transmission and limited number options. Had a BMW 325i different kind of driving experience but still on par and 8K less money. However the A3 is still an expensive car when the VW GTI is basically the same car. Definitely feel right in the car, didn't want to buy Honda Civic which is more for 20 something, but late 30's this car is definitely a good fit....read morehide

- with 6 sp trans, gas usage is kept at a reasonable level.
- Brakes grind at only 5k mi.
Love my A3 and the performance is fantastic. A little tank of a car yet very comfortable. Only complaint is the lack of water diverters on the after rain or after using windshield washer. If the grooves in the roof were a little deeper or there was a metal lip built into the roof line above the window, this would not happen. Overall I love it!...read morehide

Buyers have to know that Audi factory doesn't stand right behind its A3 cars regarding to broblems which occurs from battery and confort control units. I had this problem as well and the company did not want to fix my car.

- Fun to drive, I have a stick and I can't get enough it
- MPG is not as good as advertised
Overall, I like the car a lot. I drove an 02 q45 before and didn't have as much fun driving as I'm doing now

- Have had the 07 A3 S-Line for 1800 miles now....great car!
- Looked at many cars and ended with the A3...
Mileage so far is averaging 28.7 MPG on longer trips 31.2MPG and I feel it will only get better. Its exactly what I was looking for: speed, handling, feel and even so good looks! The A3 is a good choice...its the closest thing to my old Porsche 911. The only thing I'm doing know is saving my pennies to buy a radar detector!!!...read morehide

- an incredible fast car
- you have to beg for service. Expect 16 miles@gallon
I bought this car for the promised mileage: 28miles a gallon
It never gave me more than 16 miles a gallon. They say "free service for 4 years". But the cost is included in the price, and you have to beg for service. They will find all excuses not to do it. They will even try to get away with little cheap things, like putting only two bolts for your plates, instead of 4. They call "demanding customers" like me (that I asked for 4 bolts) "difficult customers".
This is a car that sells for the German fame of perfection, but hey! this is America. Expect problems: a good car with lousy service equals a lousy car. Expect to sell it out of frustration before the second year....read morehide
