2008 Audi A3

- Great performance and handling. Looks GREAT, open sky (double moonroof) is novel.
- Noisy brakes, relatively high interior noise, front wheel drive.
Our last car was a Benz C230. It was a luxury sedan, the A3 is a sports car in comparison. Both have similar output but the A3 is both faster and more fuel efficient. If the A3 were rear wheel drive it would beat the Benz in all categories except smoothness of ride and overall comfort. However, if you want sportiness, there is always a trade off. After 35K KMs, it still looks and runs as if it had just come off the lot. Did have both the radio and heater fan die and replaced under warranty. Otherwise, no problems in 18 months. Not so for the Mercedes which had numerous elecrical problems over its lifetime. Overall, one of the best cars we have ever owned. We call it our 'pocket rocket'!...read morehide

- fuel economy, sporty looks, nice power, open sky is awesome
- loud brakes, expensive OEM parts
12,000 miles and still love this car... upgraded wheels for a "black-out" look and everyone loves the ride ... smooth and comfortable to drive .... great sound system.... open sky has two (2) sunroofs ... replaced brakes instead of putting up with grinding and sqeaking ... if brakes are the only problem I ever have than this is the best car I have ever had ... (jetta, civic, land rover, jeep, 350z, acura tl, and mustang)...read morehide

- manual transmission, fuel economy, fun to drive
- air conditioning does not cool car in temperatures over 85 degrees
We have owned our A3 for almost 2 years and 55,000 miles. The car still am impresses me every time I drive it. It's handling and acceleration make the car a joy to drive. Amazing performance and torque for a only a 4 cylinder engine. We have had some problems with the HVAC system. Which needed three visits to the dealer to correct the problem and all were covered under the warranty. There have been no other problems, so far, besides the HVAC. One of the things that impressed me about the build quality of the car, is that after all this time and use, the finish on the car looks as good as the day I bought the car. I have never owned a car that stays this good looking after all this time. As you can tell, this car is piling up the miles fast. A 100,000 miles will be here in no time. I hoping the reliability remains very good....read morehide

- good gas mileage mixed with ability to get up and go, solid construction, safety
- Seats are not bad, but not luxury comfort. Low speed steering a tad soft.
Sharp looking, quick, good gas mileage if you put it around, my wife is get well above the EPA sticker range when she drives, when I drive getting about EPA mileage. Bluetooth works the best of our 3 new cars. Controls are smart. Ride is firm but comfortable, trunk/hatch space ample. Quality construction. Features are a tad too pricey...ergo $275 for cell phone cradle/interface. Overall far superior to any of the Japanese and American lines....read morehide

- Car handles like a "slot car", fun to drive, no quality problems, gets an A+
- slightly disapointed in the city/highway milage, but overall "not bad" could be better on the mileag
We were BMW fans (still are) but my wife absolutely loves the A3, great town car, fold down the seats and go to the garden center and fill er up. Fun to drive, comfortable on a road trip for 2 (3 or 4?, but who cares I'm sitting in the front!)

- Great handling, sporty, fun to drive, and practical
- muffler sounds are "putt - putt"
I love my A3 - it is a great car that is really fun to drive and, at the same time, practical. It gets good gas mileage, has plenty of storage space when the rear seat is folded down, and is small enough that it is easy to find a good parking space. The best thing about it though is the automatic transmission. The responsiveness of the dual clutches is awesome and makes the relatively small engine really sing. After a hard day at work, I love to shift into manual mode and run the RPM's up on the way home to bleed off a little steam, then shift back into auto mode once i hit traffic. Truly the best of both worlds....read morehide

- Superior balance of power, handling, fuel economy. Excellent GPS interface, heating/AC
- No passenger electric seat adjust, ex-factory Pirellis prone to howling
Now at 41K, 28 months. Would buy again. Performed well in high elevation winter conditions (US AZ/CA) and all-season Ohio environments. Noteworthy warranty service efficiency in Cleveland and Phoenix dealerships with rental car sevice as well. Replaced Pirellis with Continental Extreme Contact for quieter operation, better wear. Excellent rain sensing, stabilization, winter kit, AC/Heat/Defog. Practical hatchback with split seats for variety of cargo/passenger situations. Good emergency breaking and control. Better than expected fuel economy/power ratio. Good night interior lighting, Xenon leveling headlights. Gain driver room with A4, but A3 more interesting vehicle....read morehide

- TIGHT HANDLING, GOOD POWER, VALUE
- NOISY BRAKES AFTER RAIN
After 6mo/11,000mi I have a well-rounded impression of my 2008 6-spd A3 (with S-Line pkg) ... I love it. It reminds me of my old 2001 TT but much more practical. Seating is comfortable. Handling and power is tight. (I chipped it to get +50Hp more and gets even better MPG!) So it's a great vehicle for the sporty type who would prefer style over flash....read morehide

- Excellent acceleration and fuel economy. I love the way the car feels on the road.
Dollar for dollar is the best German automobile for value. The A3 is versatile in hauling family and sporting events. The car is sporty and fun to drive.
