2008 Audi A3

- Very fun car to drive, especially in Sport Mode, great handling, and it's a practical car
- Doesn't quite turn heads, but that's okay I guess
I've had this car for about 16 months now, and I am still having every bit of fun driving it like the very first ride out of the dealership. I love the DSG in this thing!
Do yourself a favor -- test drive an Audi with DSG. I think the A3 and the TT are the only models right now with this gearbox. What a phenomenal shifting experience! It is so smooth. Kick it in the Sport Mode and shift with the paddle shifters, and you're in for a treat.
As a Formula 1 fan myself, I get a kick using the paddle shifters. Word of caution however, when downshifting, you will feel the jerk, but of course it's not as bad as an F1 car, but it is all part of the engineering. I get quite an exhilarating drive whenever I get behind the wheel of my A3 S-Line 3.2 DSG. It's a fantastic car! This one is a keeper -- which happens to be my 4th Audi. Can you believe I traded in my S4 Cabrio for this? I just got tired of the weight of the S4. I wanted something lightweight and fun to drive.
I also have an '08 BMW Z4 3.0SI. This is another fun car. But between the two, I enjoy the Audi a tad bit more than my BMW. The BMW however has the looks to go with the performance. Call me crazy, but I have the Z4 as my everyday car and the A3 as my Sunday car. Go figure!...read morehide

- Great engine, awesome tranny, comes standard w/ upgraded Bose sound system, lots of standard features
- Options are $$$. Thats it though.
Awesome car. Took me a year to make this decision, decided over 3 other cars in order from best to worst - Acura TL, BMW 328 xi, IS250 AWD. Acura was nice but too big though for my tastes living in the city, BMW very nice/fast but pricey! and the lexus, oh man ugh, disappointing, if you value power/handeling and LIKE to drive avoid this car at all costs. Maybe the 350 is better i dont know.
Back to the awesomeness of the A3 3.2 Quattro---Standard feature list is better than most. Power is awesome, handels like a dream, rock solid. This is definitely a drivers car....read morehide

- Fantastic build quality, great performance, unique - not a cookie cutter car
- MPG could be better, a bit expensive, passenger seat not electric
Many reviews on cars seem to be made shortly after being purchased while the buyer is still in the honeymoon phase. And sometimes reviews appear to be written by people who don't really own one of them.
So after owning this 2007 A3 3.2 for over 16 months and 27,500 miles, I feel I am now qualified to give a real-world assessment of what it's been like using this car for my daily transportation.
Reliability - I don't get the Yahoo published ratings as I've had ZERO problems. Consumer Reports rates much better than average. MPG - I average 22 MPG in combined driving. 65 MPH on the fwy will get you 26 to 27. Around town, 12 to 14. Extended trip at 90 to 100 MPH got only 20 MPG (I know, Duh!). Performance - this car LOVES to go fast and its speed is very deceiving. Although sport suspension is a bit skittish in rough spots, the chassis feels very solid. No rattles whatsoever - very impressive. Some say this car costs way too much - WRONG! When all considered, it's priced about right. So after all this time, I still look forward to driving this car every day. The love affair continues....read morehide

- Good looks and quick handling
- poor gas mileage
This car broke down the 1st day out of the lot ...so they replaced it with another car(so they said) and that car had transmission problems 3 months later. It was in the shop for approximately 1 month and when we got it back it was not as quick on the take off as it once was. A couple of months later, the car would not turn over(its not the battery) and was in the shop for another 7 days. This time they said it was a short in the circuit ...too much problems for a NEW and EXPENSIVE car....read morehide

- Seats are very comfortable. Car is fast. DSG is fun as well practical. 4-wheeldrive!
- Ride is on the harsh side.
3-door in silver is extremly goodlooking. The car makes it a joy to go anywhere, but best are small country roads with a lot of curves.
