The latest 2012 version of the S5 is unlike the 2008-2009 version, because it has the Rear Sports Differential which you can set to make the engine more aggressive in 'Dynamic mode', the steering tighter, and the rear wheels can transfer torque sideways when cornering. Everything fun about the new S4 is now in the S5 because of the Sports Differential, and more. The V8 engine definitely begs for top speed in the highway and purrs very nicely. MotorTrend rates the S5 coupe at 4.5 seconds 0-60MPH and Car & Drive got 4.8 seconds 0-60. So this car is no slouch. At first it appears like its not accelerating as fast as you think, because the V8 engine accelerates very smoothly. I didn't realize I was doing 105MPH and had to stomp the brakes. Taking it to the curvy mountain roads, you can curve at 80-85MPH and the S5 will drive like its on rails, because of the Sports Rear Differential which transfer most torque to the outer wheel when cornering. This car is a Blast to drive. And it can do 24-27 MPG on the highway. I have achieved 19 city driving without driving like grandma, so I find the MPG acceptable. I say the V8 in other brands like the $90,000 BMW 650 and the Jaguar XJ at $88,000, which also runs 4.9 seconds 0-60mph give similar values to the $60K V8 S5. But in terms of looks and performance, the S5 is a winner and worth every penny you spend. I first thought about buying an S4, but with the S5 having the Rear Sports Differential and the V8 and the 'Looks', no one can touch this car. Get one now, because the V8 disappears in the 2013 S5 and the look is not the same anymore....read morehide

My S5 was delivered in February 2012. It may seem odd that a $65,000 car is considered a great value, But, I get my moneys worth every time I drive. Absolutely a joy to drive. True power (and great braking) and handling. I gave myself whiplash twice. So much fun to drive.
I considered the S5 and BMW6.The styling on the BMW is great, but there is no way its worth $40,000 more. I live in New England and wanted the all wheel drive. Although It is a second car that I probably will only use in the winter when I have guest.
I was used to the nav in my acura, and have been dissapointed so far with this system. But I have become more accustomed to it. My other dissapointment is that I can't put the top down with my key fob. I don't know if its an option, but if it is get it. I have to be sitting in the car to put the top down now....read morehide
