The interior is stunning and the seats are so comfrtoable. also the layout of the car puts everything at your fingertips. this is a car i am glad that i have.

Overall, I get a lot of compliements on the look and I do like this car. Thats the reason I bought it. But after 6 months of owning it I find its more work to own than fun to drive.
I find the price I paid was really absurd now that I think about it. I was prepared to spend $90k but went over the limit by another 10k.
Performance wise its not that great for $100k. I raced a Z06 and Mustang GT500 and they literally smoked me. Opps. I was embarrased.
The front end is a let down. It drags the curbs and looks like a droppy chin. The rest is a nice design. The interior is great. The engine is smooth but just lacks the punch I was expecting.
Reliability is lacking. Its been in the shop already 3 times in 6 months. One time, it didnt start. Another time the trans wouldn't shift out of 2nd. No neutral, no reverse. Replaced under warranty. The engine light came on one time while driving. I left it for a few weeks until I had time to fix it.
You live and learn. I leaned never to get an Audi.

I drive a Lexus LS430 and had a 2002 Acura NSX which I enjoyed very much. I didn't want to get a Porsche 911 because they are too "ordinary" so to speak. The NSX just had its own supercar look but could be driven whenever and wherever I wanted to at a much cheaper price than Ferrari. When I first heard about the R8 I heard it would have over 600 bhp so I assumed it would be far more than I wanted to spend. Then the real thing came out. At roughly as tested 130,000.00 it was far less than I had expected it to be. And it is the most fun I've had in a car yet (I've driven Porsche 911 S, NSX, Viper, and 2004 Corvette Z06) with drivability of a 911 and Acura. At the track, the breaks are so strong they help it keep up with a GT3 Porsche. Audi has my heart.

this is the greatest audi,ever. this car have brillant quattro motion,new generation of electronic stability progam,so everyone can drive it,even my grandmom.its design is exiting.it looks like car which have 600hp,not 420hp.its engine have economic fuel injection,so it spend less fuel than same engine with ordinary direct fuel injection.its light-weight ASF (audi space frame) construction is extremly stong and it have gread weight balance wich bring great maner while driveng through curves.its interior made quality is like in audi a8.'bout interior or exterior design it's necesary spending words...it's just brilliant.

car handles great on the freeway and around winding roads. lacks a little on creature comforts. little pricey for an audi but it isn't something you see all the time on the roads.

I drove this car a couple of laps on the Infineon raceway north of SF.
And I drove my own RS4 at Infineon raceway and at Thunderhill.
I was immediately convinced that the R8 is the better car.
First thing you notice is that you're kind of glued to the street.
The low sitting position may have a part in this too.
Speed in turns is considerable higher compared to the RS4.
I stepped on the breaks once while driving a turn and as expected the car started to over-steer,
but very control-able.
The breaks come very early and very strong and this may take some getting used to.
Acceleration is also better compared to the RS4 due to the lighter weight of the R8.
Unfortunately I could not perform any threshold breaking in the R8.
As in the RS4 the engine sounds quite willing also at high RPM.
I drove the manual gearbox version as I did not expect anything new from the tiptronic version.
If the tiptronic works similar like the current DSG from VW/Audi (means it down-shifts by itself on full throttle (in manual mode) and in the first gear it does not up-shift on full throttle even if told to up-shift), it would be quite an insult to this otherwise perfect car.
I'll sell my RS4 only after I've got the money to pay for this car.

I got mine a month ago, had it in the repair shop most of the time. It's an audi and they have a million glithes every day.
eautiful interior, although it is not fast enough for the money. You can get a 911 turbo at this price and I sure am regreting not getting one.
It should have a lambo V10.
Braking is average also, while you always have a fear something will fail you. It just needs some work untill it becomes good.

it's a great car and is very fast and hhas the best and most modern interrior than any other car I know of.... but audi is coming out with annew RTT witch has the enginge of an R8 and the looks of a TT, it alot faster, but doesnt cach ass much attention

Amazing piece of engineering. The look of the car, coupled with its wonderful performance is unmatched by almost all other cars. It is unique, and utterly beautiful. The engine, as it turns on makes an amazing roar, and driving down the street in this car will get you more looks than any other car. If you can afford one of these, you must get your hands on one, if you wish to wait, even more powerful models will be available.
