2009 Toyota Venza
Looking more like an upsized Matrix, the Venza will be powered by a 268-bhp 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. That vehicle will have a 3500-lb. towing capacity. After the Venza's launch later this year, a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder, entry-level model, also with a 6-speed automatic, will be offered. The V-6 will be equipped with 20-in. wheels as standard equipment, while the four will come with 19-in. wheels.
Among the options will be a panoramic roof with separate glass panels over the front and rear rows of seats, a first for Toyota. The Venza employs the latest in safety technology such as stability control, active headrests and seven airbags including two-row side-curtain protection and a knee bag for the driver's position. Riding on a 109.3-in. wheelbase, the Venza measures 189.0 in. in overall length and is intended to compete with such crossovers as the Ford Edge, Nissan Murano and Mazda CX-7.
Styled by Toyota's California design studio and built in Kentucky, the Venza was developed specifically for the North American market.
