The star of the Mini stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show will be the new Clubman wagon that first appeared as the Mini Concept at Frankfurt two years ago. The Clubman's most novel feature is the rear side-hinged doors (each with its own wiper), which copy the original Mini Traveller from the 1960s. Getting into and out of the rear seat is made easier by a small rear-hinged door on the right-hand side. Like the rear passenger doors on a Mazda RX-8, it can be accessed only when the front door is open.

The Clubman's 155.0-in. overall length (9.4 in. longer than a regular Mini) benefits rear passengers with 3.2 in. of extra leg room. Luggage capacity has increased to 9.1 cu. ft. with the rear seats up and 32.8 when folded flat. The Clubman will share engines with the Mini line, including an S model with a 1.6-liter direct-injected turbo inline-4 producing 175 bhp, said to be good for 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds.
