Hoping to give Cayenne sales a shot in the arm, Porsche unveiled the sportier GTS package at Frankfurt, which provides a boost in engine output, permanent all-wheel drive and for the first time, the availability of a 6-speed manual gearbox on the SUV.

The revised suspension features a lower ride height and wheel-arch extensions that help cover the massive 21-in. wheels shod with 295/35R-21 rubber to distinguish the GTS from standard Cayenne models. Inside, redesigned front and rear seats also reflect the sportier nature of the vehicle. The GTS also comes with the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as standard equipment.

The new GTS model is expected to go on sale next March as a 2009 model with a base MSRP of $69,300.
